Reviving this thread to continue to ask for insights from people who've dealt with power windows and electrical gremlins.
Driver window goes down, but not up.
Window switch replaced.
Window motor replaced.
Relays have now also been replaced.
Still not fixed.
I just had a power-window-fix guy...
Well, I've replaced master switch, window motor AND relays this past week, and my window is still not fixed. Used to go down but not up. Now it's not going either way. What should I look at next? I'm so annoyed by now..
So I tested both cables in the motor connector on the harness, and the black one gets close to zero either up or down, while the red one does close to 12 and then 0 (which is what should happen as far I understand). The black one intermittently gets voltage, like sometimes it seems to make...
Removing the driver side panel to access the ground in the A pillar on my 1990 62, I discovered this loose connector just hanging there. Anybody know what it’s for and where it’s supposed to connect?
So I did a resistance test on the ground on the A pillar and I'm getting a pretty high reading - between 4.5 and 5.1 (all with the help of Google Gemini cause this is my literal fist time tackling any of this with any car ever and most of what I'm discussing here I am learning in the last 24...
looking at this thread while trying to sort my driver window issue (not going up) and looking at the OEM switch I purchased a few months ago I see that it appears to be missing connector number 2 which plays into the window up movement. Am I interpreting this correctly? Photo attached.
When I...
I know there's several threads about this topic and they've been very helpful in helping me navigate this, but I have specific questions about my situation as I'm at a loss of where the issue could be. Hoping to get some clarity! Here goes:

Driver window goes down but does not go up...
Got a Dorman 742-600 at my local parts store and thought one of the 3 connector options it comes with would fit as it looked similar (my bad, looked at photos online instead of actually unplugging my own cable to look at the connection in my 62) and it turns out none of the options work with the...
Hahaha best way to learn I guess. I’m actually in an automatic tranny era. Every other classic I own is from the 60s (including my 67 VW bus in the pic below), manual and with no AC. I can’t tell you how luxurious this 62 feels to me.
Incidentally, this is what I pulled out of where the shifter...
Crawled under the car and found it under there. Fed it right back in and went back to work. Then it fell back again lol. At least I know how to get it now.
I was working on replacing the shifter bushings on my 62 (complete noob here, my first 62 and my first attempt at replacing bushings ever). It was all going fine until I removed the 19mm nut, I had to get that linkage part that comes in from under out of the way in order to remove the 19mm, and...
Thanks of this great writeup. My 62 came with a cracked windshield and it's the next thing I want to tackle. My question is a very basic newbie one and it's about the lock strip that is mentioned so much. What is it? Is it made of rubber? Where does it go? I'm going to keep the chrome molding as...
