I have this part solved I believe. I used an on line mechanic and he told me that the multi connector 59 pin socket uses the 14 pin section for the steering wheel controls. I also found the fuse diagrams and as soon as I get a fuse puller will be checking those.

secondary question re: fuses. Does the LX use standard vehicle fuses or are there unique fuses? Also is there supposed to be a fuse puller in the fuse box? Don't think mine is still there. I want to get additional spare fuses since there are few in the fuse boxes that I've seen. Thanks.

They're 285/55 20 and are E rated. They're inflated to between 34 and 35.
