You are much smarter than I am. Thanks. That saved me a ton of mathing. That’s what happens when you just think about this for too long by yourself. I knew the body lift was going to be a pain but i was trying to account for hub to wheel arch distance. Much appreciated
I am trying to reverse math the suspension setup on my HZJ to get some new shocks sorted. Currently it has a shackle lift, a body lift, and 35” tires with aftermarket leaf springs of unknown lift height.
I already have stock shackles ready to go but want to knock out the shackle and shock...
Just wanted to let you know that trick with the bar worked swimmingly. I would have expected it to be a lot harder to remove. Still working on the bracket to get the cable pull distance right but it bought me an inch and a half to get some hardware in there.
It’s really just extended shackles and a~2.5” body lift. Maybe lift springs? Still trying to figure it out since there aren’t any real markings. It just looks massive compared to the other local cruisers being on 35s. Maybe I’m just being self conscious about it.
Are there any issues with getting a JDM 70 series in with significant suspension modification and a body lift? I want to redo the suspension when I get back and get rid of the body lift but I really don’t want to have to buy all the parts to bring it back to stock only to have to pull them off...
Yeah that was my suspicion. I am in the process of trying to turn an old putty knife into a usable lever. Just need to figure out the spring. Already tried one from a razor scooter and it wasn’t nearly strong enough. Also straightened out a key ring. I think my next step is to try and pull a...
Trying to replace the crappy aftermarket driver seat that it came with in my 73. Read through a bunch of threads in seats but the one lingering question I have is about the slider rails. Currently, there is an aftermarket recaro base with welded on rails attached to my suspension base. If I look...
Well I got the new oil pan on. If anyone is contemplating doing this on a manual transmission, highly recommend you get some friends. It’s a bit of a pain to get it back on. Because of the way it’s designed the very front corners of the pan get caught on the metal seal of the transmission I had...
Happy to report it is off after many cuss words and angry swigs of beer. For anyone else that runs into this, here is what worked. Bottle jack against the frame on the front of the oil pan, right behind the radiator. Pressure it sideways and eventually it will shift just a little bit on the...
I gave this a shot. Needed a break so wedged it against a leaf spring and put some pressure on it. Maybe it will be on the ground when I get back later
Anyone have a good technique to break the liquid gasket seal on an oil pan? I triple checked no bolts. Tried hitting it with a rubber mallet. Tried putting pressure on it with a floor jack. Tried getting a chisel in between there. She’s still stuck.
Thanks!
