As I recall, the reason the (aluminum) TYC1918 rad is noted as a replacement for '95-'97 is because the earlier 80's came with brass cores, in '95 they changed to aluminum. Many parts suppliers make a distinction, probably because Toyota has different part numbers for the brass vs. aluminum...

Unfortunately I don't think it's quite that simple with rack-and-pinion steering- as soon as you try to move the car the wheel likely will turn to the stops. OTOH if it's on a smooth surface you can often move the car with a jack under it, but it can be challenging if you don't have several...
