I actually snugged them up a bit and most of the bolts there went another 1/8 of a turn. I then cleaned the area with brake cleaner. Going to monitor and see if it helps. You are absolutely right about these old gals leaking.

I bought this FJ40 about a year ago and never tried locking it until recently. I’m not sure if it ever worked correctly, I’ve owned it for less than a year. It’s an original 1974 FJ. I just noticed the tab to lock and unlock the door from the inside is missing and replaced with a nut.
