Very sorry to hear/see that! cage drivers are worse than ever talking and texting on their phones instead of looking the f*** where they're going. These days when I go out on the bike I stay in town just long enough to get gas and then head for the country where it's a little bit safer.
Thanks for the responses, When I took the entire sides and cap off in one piece I used the frontend loader of my tractor to pick it up. The trouble with that is it lifts it in a slight arc so the locating pins want to bind and putting it back in the same fashion is going to be a PITA plus more...
I will at some point be putting the cab back on the FJ and I'm considering doing it in sections. Roughly how much does the fiberglass roof section weigh? Is this something I can move myself or is it a two person job to put it back on the reassembled cab?
No hurricanes or tornados where I live but over the past 30 years I have come close to losing my home to forest fires 3 times so I know the stress that comes along with natural disasters. The rainy season has kicked in early this year in northern New Mexico which lowers the fire danger by quite...

Nice looking 40! The 383 and the SM420 will make for a nice drivetrain considering the 35'' tires. My 73 has a 350 with an SM 420 and it works well for me.
Welcome to the site, there are some very knowledgeable people here that can help you out with any aspect of your rig. They have helped me...
Spring reversal with stock height would be ok by me and less work if it will function as well or better than original. I am not going for a full restoration with my 40.
Thanks for those pictures! Picture #1 is what I have at the moment.
Not needing to be 100% original can the rear stay as is and just add the short piece to the front? Would this not have been the spring reversal minus the extension and still give me workable front suspension of stock height?
I'm toying with the idea of lowering my FJ40. The previous owner had done a spring over axle lift in the back which would be straight forward to undo but in the front the front shackle mount was removed and extended pieces were welded to the frame extending the spring eye down about 7''. I think...
