Just measured '02 HZJ79 (solid axle) inside rotor face to inside rotor face was ~52". Newer diffs were made quite a bit wider at the front to fit the V8. 80 series diffs work with OEM steelies and 2" flares, depending on application.

First, If you can find a set for $350, for both front and rear, by all means go buy them! Without being able to see the listing, I can’t comment if these are even the same manufacturer with 3M insulation, or chinesium. Second, go buy them and report back!

Nice Troopy and some great advice from @Rigster. Would add: 2. lift the front up on jack stands with the rear chocked, and have a helper turn steering from lock to lock while watching the linkage and pitman arm. Should be able to identify the problem pretty quick i.e. check for loose / worn tie...
