    Cruiser Trash Parts thread

I just put your Koito headlight kit onto my FJ60 this weekend; great setup and a big improvement over the crappy lights that were in there. Nice product!

Please help me troubleshoot my charging system

I split time betweem Bozeman and Atlanta. The truck is in Atlanta right now, I’m going to work on it over the winter and bring it out in the spring.

Please help me troubleshoot my charging system

Yes it is. Looks like I need to track down a new FJ60 regulated alternator.

Please help me troubleshoot my charging system

Thank you. Where is the voltage regulator supposed to be on this thing, inside the alternator or elsewhere in the engine bay? I suspect I'm currently running no voltage regulator whatsoever.

Please help me troubleshoot my charging system

1986 FJ60 that I got a few weeks ago. Going through it and un-effing a bunch of stuff done by previous owners. One of the major ones- when running, the battery is charging at 17+ volts. The meter on the dash is pegged, and there is some water on top of the battery that indicates boiling. I'm...

Under-hood vacuum lines. Help me reconnect this thingy

I’m ordering a new VCV from City Racer, but until it arrives- does my new plumbing look correct?

Under-hood vacuum lines. Help me reconnect this thingy

I got my FJ60 a few weeks ago and I'm trying to get everything back to baseline from a service/maintenance standpoint. It's a little slow to start sometimes, but otherwise it actually runs pretty well. One thing that has me perplexed is this diaphragm under the passenger side of the air...

who has installed a 4+Products rear bumper? Help needed

Possibly? The bushing are pushed into both ends of the tube, and have a collar preventing them from being pushed in. I can’t think of a good way to press them out. There’s no way to get to the under surface of either bearing from the opposite end. I’m open to suggestions here. There’s also...

who has installed a 4+Products rear bumper? Help needed

More musings on my bumper/spare dilemma. Good- tonight I spent a couple hours trying to clean up the post and bushings with everything I could think of. Bad- both surfaces are seriously galled and pitted. I even ran a cylinder hone inside the bushings to try to smooth them out, it’s...

forum newb with FJ60... help point me in the right direction!

Thanks everyone. I went to the tag office yesterday and the VIN is indeed clear, so I got a clean title on it (and apparently a pretty good deal). We have ad valorem tax in GA where they tax you at purchase based on the value of the vehicle. He didn’t know what to do with such an old car so he...

who has installed a 4+Products rear bumper? Help needed

Nice! Right now I split time between Atlanta and Bozeman. My youngest graduates from HS this year and is headed off to college (MSU ironically) so I'll be moving up there full-time at some point. Kalispell is an awesome town.

who has installed a 4+Products rear bumper? Help needed

Here she is. It's always been in the Southeast, first in NC then in TN and in GA for the last few years. It was originally blue. Sometime in the 2000's it was painted the current color scheme, the interior was redone, OME suspension was installed. Had the motor replaced in 2017. Recently...

who has installed a 4+Products rear bumper? Help needed

Thanks! I also thought about installing a grease zerk, but in the thread linked above the manufacturer recommends against using grease with these because it interferes with the bearing clearance and the lubrication (ha!) impregnated in the bearings. He recommends only using light oil like 3-in-1.

who has installed a 4+Products rear bumper? Help needed

Thanks Franklin, keep me posted on that. Not very encouraging, this bumper has been a PITA for me so far. Mine won't be a serious offroader, more of a town cruiser and a way to get to trailhead and fishing spots when I move to MT next summer. The extra hassle of swinging the gates out to get...
