So here it is a few year after the last post in this thread and I am dead in the water with no transmission on my 2000 LX. On the highway 75mph, no vibration, no shake, nothing just the engine Revs went crazy has in neutral and applying the gas! Transmission oil doesn't smell, no residue in it...

There's no transmission fluid anywhere (the fluid on my shots is gear oil from Tcase) I have check from front to back and there's not a drop or a sign of any leaks. The trans cooler is fine as well, I mean it's dirty but no cracks, no leaks nothing. The hoses to and from it are tight and dry...

no it was dry for sure. that fluid is Tcase 100% because it's glistening around it and I have had that before. this time it's just a lot. BUT the tCase doesn't and didn't make any noise like major failure or anything....

I did bump a few things for sure.... it was a fun trip.....There's been no noise of anything breaking down or fracturing or anything like that.

I am trying to check all I can but nothing jumps at me. I took the plug out of the Transmission pan but other than some sparkles NOTHING that indicates major carnage. I know I should the take the pan off and inspect magnets in the case but when I do that i need a new filter and redo the gasket...

So I am not seeing a lot of power steering loss. What I know is that we towed the rig while in neutral (both tranny and transfer case) and I do know both the input and output shafts seal on my Tcase are leaking and I think that's what the fluid is. I need to open the Tcase plug hole and refill...

unfortunately it's not looking that it's going to be that easy. I am not seeing any fluids anywhere even though I added 2 full quarts and the level is indicating like 2 inches above max.

I would love to figure this out and this is what I have so far: LA to Utah -- Next month (this can be broken into LA to Vegas and Vegas to Utah) (fill in the gap here :-) Dallas to L.A. Any help would be appreciated guys and I am happy to throw in some cash for a gas evidently or snacks.

if the leak is from there and the transmission is not longer working evidently, I still need a new one. I have read some conflicting stories on various sources whereby the 98 version doesn't fit the 2000 vehicles but here on Mud, which to me is the better source of truth and experience, everyone...
