Got the vehicle back from the Toyota dealer, with the leak fixed and the sunroof fixed: it now works correctly! They had not “performed an operation that is in the service manual”. I’m guessing that it needs to be initialised, not just connected to power. (Big of them to admit fault!)...

I know that issue: we took the vehicle back to the installer and showed them the leak, dripping through the cabin air filter and onto the middle of the floor. That was a separate issue!!

I used an electrical cable to clean out the drain. It fed all the way to the bottom panel, where we could hear it moving. I have heard that pine and casuarina trees are the main culprit for blockages. There have been other issues since the repair. Sunroof buttons are not correctly wired...

Got a bloke to weld some brackets to the tow bar to allow the engineer to re-certify the BTC to 4,000kg, up from the 3,000 kg standard. Also attached the 4,500kg Mr Hitches tow hitch. Certification set for next week, then we can hit the road full-time and tour our great nation!

Thanks for the advice. I disconnected earth on both engine batteries and the aux battery. Welding work completed. Reconnected the batteries and all is well. Initially the rear door would not lift, but sprang back to life once activated from the button in the cabin. All else seems normal...

Thanks for the quick response! will I need to reset any of the electronics if the batteries are disconnected for, say, more than 15 minutes?
