I see your reply but there's no info. Am I not seeing it?

    Temp Sensor connection

I've finally gotten all of the gauges on my FJ to work. Sort of. The temp sensor works (with alligator clips), but I can't find any information on the type of connector that's supposed to be between the sensor and the wire. Can anyone help? Thanks.

    Dizzy orientation?

    THANKS!

    Dizzy orientation?

Is that (cylinder 4 suggestion) based on TDC?

    Dizzy orientation?

Thanks guys. Kevin, it runs to well to have a plug wire issue. And the timing was set and still looks good with the timing light. Shark, your idea sounds good. Didn't know if the pump drive was turntable by hand. Can I assume a trial and error process (trying to get the cam gear to mesh AND...

    Dizzy orientation?

After a long process to fix a massive hesitation issue that included installation of a new Pertronix ignition, the truck is all timed and runs great. (The hesitation problem was not ignition related.) Unfortunately I now have a distributor that isn't lined up properly to the engine case. The...

    Hesitation & anti-diesel solenoid

SUCCESS! I was beginning to think it would never, ever run right. But it is smooth and sweet! As Jim predicted, it was crossed up primary and secondary boosters. The rebuilder put them back in just the way he took them out. Causing the exact same problem I took it to him to straighten out...

    Hesitation & anti-diesel solenoid

Thanks, Jim. I'll call the rebuilder tomorrow and will let you know how things go.

    Hesitation & anti-diesel solenoid

In that vein is there anything else I could check before I call him?

    Hesitation & anti-diesel solenoid

Thanks, Jim. I maybe should have mentioned that the truck had this severe hesitation when I bought it. That is the reason the carb was rebuilt. I've been in communicate with the rebuilder in the past couple of weeks and he is willing to try again. I will make sure he hears your comments...

    Hesitation & anti-diesel solenoid

The engine "revives" when I put my hand on the carb.

    Hesitation & anti-diesel solenoid

Sorry for my ignorance, but what is a retard distributor? Because it idles so well below the dead zone and revs smoothly and with power above the dead zone, I've always thought that the basics of vacuum, fuel, and ignition were sound. And that it had to be something very specific. Which is...

    Hesitation & anti-diesel solenoid

Thanks for that info. I'll try it tomorrow. One VSV port goes to the diaphragm on the carb, the other two go to ports on the carb. Not really sure what they all do. Do you?

    Hesitation & anti-diesel solenoid

We looked at mine. The vac module was getting vacuum and the mechanism inside it wasn't frozen. We tried to separate the module from the diss, but it wasn't going to come off easily and we didn't want to break it. Can you tell me how you tested yours? How you fixed it? Thanks.

    Hesitation & anti-diesel solenoid

Thanks, Rocker. The engine was well warmed. (I've burned through almost 3/4 tank of gas since the tuning/testing started.) The vac did drop off dramatically when the flat spot hit but I assumed that was due to the drastic drop off in revs. If there is a vac leak significant to cause this dead...
