    Registry U.S. 70's Registration.

After four months, I finally got her to the U.S. She's currently sitting in Virginia, waiting on the state to issue a title and registration. I am debating whether or not to sell because I wont be able to drive it for at least two years and hate to see it sit. Odometer and A/C took a dump not...

    For Sale (GA) Rebuilt Odometers

Great! I may have to coordinate that with my FIL who I am leaving it with as I am moving back to Africa on the 20th. According to what I have GA doesn't require a functioning odometer (on a vehicle more than 10 years old) to sell, so I may just see if I can find a buyer without fixing it.

    For Sale (GA) Rebuilt Odometers

Hey Jack, can you fix an odometer on a KZJ78 if I leave it with you? The mechanic I had look at it in Botswana said the gear that attaches to the speedo cable is worn down. He said he couldn't get parts and the only way to fix it would be to replace the whole cluster. The vehicle is scheduled to...

Information Re: Importing to the USA and Complete DIY How-To

Thank you for the info, very helpful. The last time I shipped a vehicle from overseas I was on an actual military base in Germany. It was a very straightforward process of scheduling the appointment with the pcsmypov website, dropping off the vehicle at the VPC on post, then picking it up at the...

Information Re: Importing to the USA and Complete DIY How-To

Thanks for this great write-up! I may have missed it, but do you know what import rules are different for military or foreign service members? I am a (US) military member serving at the embassy in Botswana. The US government is shipping my 93 KZJ78 from Botswana to the VPC in Atlanta. The...

    ARB bullbar Problem

I wouldn't say it's a kit so much as it is a snorkel for another application that was modified to fit. One of the local shops here in Gaborone found it and fit it for me. I can try to find the brand and model if you are interested.

    ARB bullbar Problem

I had a similar problem with my MCC bar. Rather than trim the bumper we trimmed a 1/2" off the body under the turn signals (where it was interfering) and put a pinch weld on it. This is the best photo I have at the moment because it is yet again in the shop with a cracked radiator and a dead...

Very nice! Curious, did you import to Va? The reason I ask is that I will be importing my 93 KZJ78 JDM (currently in Botswana) to Va next summer and would like to know what to expect.

    1KZTE Oil Level Sensor Necessity?

Thanks for the reply. I trust this mechanic, he said they didn't notice it was broken until they pulled the entire pan with the sensor still attached to the pan. Perhaps when they dropped the pan they could have damaged it? It sounds like the worst case of having a broken one is the low oil...

    1KZTE Oil Level Sensor Necessity?

The local shop was replacing my oil pan gasket and when they pulled the pan they noticed that the engine oil level sensor was disintegrated inside. The part (8491) is around $300 and I am wondering if it is really needed. Should I get them to weld a patch in the sensor hole and not have the...

    1993 KZJ78 Build

Sorry, I'm still learning my way around these engines. Is the piece you speak of the tube that comes off the bottom of the turbo and goes to the crankcase?

    Radiator Question

If this one is original (how do you tell?), then it has over 200k km's on it. I'm already pretty heavily invested in it, so I guess it makes sense to pay the premium for quality and peace of mind. The last thing I want is to be stranded in the middle of the Kalahari because I was too cheap.

    Radiator Question

Should I be worried about these micro-cracks in the top of my radiator? I was planning on replacing, but haven't decided whether I should spend $300 on a Chinese-made replacement, or if it's worth the extra $400 premium to buy one from Toyota. Appreciate any advice you all may have.

    1993 KZJ78 Build

Some pics of the fixed oil leaks. Found one at the turbo pipe, oil cooler, and valve cover gasket, fortunately, no rear main seal leak. Should be getting some new shoes on her next week and maybe a new front bumper and winch. Sourcing parts from SA has been an exercise in extreme patience. I'm...

    Help with cooling

Where did you get your direct drive fans from? For reference, I have a 93 KZJ78.
