Purchased an 80 Series as a family vehicle but who are we kidding? It won't stay stock for long

How did you access the top nut on the driver side with an impact? Right above my shock nut is the brake booster. Did you just use a swivel joint?

Alright, so does anybody have tricks to removing the front shocks? I was able to get the passenger side, which had actually rusted and broken free from the bottom mount. The top nut wouldn’t come free so I stopped asking and busted out the cutoff wheel. I then replaced with just a Bilstein 4600...

What’s everyone driving when you leave your LC home?

I typically daily the LC, but when I don’t want to worry about potholes or anything else + have more power and speed, I take my 2013 Raptor.

Hemholtz resonator - design and implementation ideas

It’s funny. I know there is math involved and plenty of different variables to the j-pipe design but, I did one for my truck and it uses a 26” pipe to get rid of the drone. 6.2L V8, 37’s, 4.10’s, and trying to reduce/eliminate drone at 2100-2300 RPMs. Makes me believe if you had a semi...

Choosing paint color….would love to see some dark grey, gunmetal or charcoal rigs!

Magnetic Grey? It has some flake in it. Not sure if you want that or not. Or Slate Grey from Porsche.

What about Leadfoot Grey from the Ford Raptor? Direct sunlight it’s a lighter grey but overcast it’s decently dark.

Put pictures of the wheels you have in yours 80 series

Looking to purchase a set of wheels and tires here pretty soon and love the pics! For guys running 17’s, are you running 17x9 or 17x8.5 wheels? Trying to figure out what’s best but can’t seem to really figure it out. Was thinking 17x9 in -12 offset but that’s essentially the same as a 17x8.5 w/...

Didn’t know this was a requirement. I’ll make sure to try with and without and update.

Purchased an 80 Series as a family vehicle but who are we kidding? It won't stay stock for long

Just purchased two from Wits End. If it's bad, I have a replacement, if not, I have two spares. I'll check the fusible link when I get home to see if I can spot anything fishy. Thanks!

Purchased an 80 Series as a family vehicle but who are we kidding? It won't stay stock for long

OK, so no mods have been done yet, but I have a weird issue I can't seem to figure out. I thought it was a dead battery, and I still need to get it tested, but it's a bit perplexing. Usually it's overnight, but sometimes it will happen in the middle of the day, and just happened when I stopped...

Purchased an 80 Series as a family vehicle but who are we kidding? It won't stay stock for long

Why do you have to come in here with reason and sound advice? After reading some more, I think the most I'll do is 35's. 37's would be fun, but the more I read and digest, the more of a hassle it seems to be. On my truck, I jumped head first into the mods and the truck still drives like a...

Purchased an 80 Series as a family vehicle but who are we kidding? It won't stay stock for long

I had figured I would have to re-gear if I went to 37's. Was thinking I'd have to go to 4.88's for 37's. May even go 4.88's with 35's just to have a little more pickup and go. With only 4 gears, there isn't any way to make it an efficient rig in the first place, let alone on the highway, so I...

Purchased an 80 Series as a family vehicle but who are we kidding? It won't stay stock for long

All of that makes sense. Thanks! Also makes a lot of sense for the dual swing arms rather than one. I could see the pivot wearing out prematurely with a spare + ladder + fuel cans. Don't tempt me with a good time on external bypasses. That's all I know from the prerunner world 🥳

And the reason I mention 35's is I'm pretty good personal friends with the owner of Texas Motorworx in Dallas and they upgrade tons of Raptors to 37's. Probably able to get some Raptor take-off 35 BFG KO2's for pretty cheap.

Purchased an 80 Series as a family vehicle but who are we kidding? It won't stay stock for long

For sure. I'm not going to just start writing checks for parts right now. It needs a new front bumper as it has a small bruise on it and the rear bumper has some rust on it that doesn't seem to have spread since my buddy had it, but I'd like to get it taken care of. I guess here's a better...
