    Windshield reseal

@robnicko thanks that's a good option. I do want to pull the glass and address any rust since it's been leaking for a few winters now.

    Windshield reseal

I'm in need for a reseal due to leaking lower corners. I have a brand new OEM gasket ready to go. I'm looking for a shop that knows how to do these correctly. Located in San Jose if anyone has experience/ recommendations Thanks!

FJ45 vs. Aqualu FJ45 Conversion for a Restomod Trail Rig — Looking for Input

That's interesting, I knew aqualu makes an 80 width tub, is that different than a 3/4 tub for a 40 cowl drilled for 80 body mounts? Mckinnon makes some great stuff I would for sure look into them for some parts if I pulled the trigger on this.

FJ45 vs. Aqualu FJ45 Conversion for a Restomod Trail Rig — Looking for Input

Yeah, I like the idea of having the suspension, steering and brakes all sorted out if using the 80 platform. Not to mention fully boxed frame and stronger axles. Only thing I don't know is the relative fab work of a 3/4 aqualu tub + body/engine mounts vs stretching a 40 frame and building out...

FJ45 vs. Aqualu FJ45 Conversion for a Restomod Trail Rig — Looking for Input

A few pictures of rigs I've gathered over time as inspiration, sorry if owners are on here I don't remember where they all came from..

FJ45 vs. Aqualu FJ45 Conversion for a Restomod Trail Rig — Looking for Input

I'm starting to plan out a Land Cruiser project and would really appreciate some input from people who have built FJ45s, Aqualu bodies, or stretched 40-series chassis. For context Ive had 2 '79 40s and a '65 in various states of driving but mostly interested in a 45 for my next cruiser. The...

    Chasing a Slow Coolant Leak – 1996 80 Series, 190K, HG Done

Thanks all, good points. @Fj80oregon I'll see when I can pull the valve cover and do another pressure check @petegangies I did an initial Blackstone analysis before the tear down and they confirmed coolant in the oil, I haven't put enough miles on it yet to do another round of testing but I'm...

    Chasing a Slow Coolant Leak – 1996 80 Series, 190K, HG Done

Update: The oil cooler wasn’t it I’ve put roughly 400 miles on it since reassembling everything, and unfortunately the coolant loss is still there. I’ve gone through about a gallon of coolant over those 400 miles. So, unfortunately, the oil cooler did not fix the issue. I’m also still not...

    Chasing a Slow Coolant Leak – 1996 80 Series, 190K, HG Done

I decided to move forward with reassembly. I made a few block off plugs to pressure check the oil cooler and just re used them for the housing. I dunked the housing in water while pressurized and didn't see bubbles so I'm confident now it wasn't a crack. Still doesn't confirm where the original...

    Chasing a Slow Coolant Leak – 1996 80 Series, 190K, HG Done

Good point about a dye pen test, I don't have a kit and they only cost a little less than what a new OEM housing runs.. The area in question is circled:

    Chasing a Slow Coolant Leak – 1996 80 Series, 190K, HG Done

Finally got around to blowing apart the cooling system. None of the gaskets appear be failed Pressure tested the cooler and it checked out fine. There was one suspicious hairline crack on the oil pressure relief galley of the aluminum housing so I am debating leaving it, jb welding it, or get a...

    Chasing a Slow Coolant Leak – 1996 80 Series, 190K, HG Done

Got a bunch of OEM gaskets and seals to baseline the cooling system. Also got the hose kit to delete the rear heater as one of the T hoses is showing signs of failure.

    Chasing a Slow Coolant Leak – 1996 80 Series, 190K, HG Done

At this point the 80 is taking about a half gallon of coolant every 250 miles. I would be amazed that the residue on the hose was equivalent to that much leaking since the area around it is dry. I'm definitely going to fix that but I don't think it's the main source.

    Chasing a Slow Coolant Leak – 1996 80 Series, 190K, HG Done

Update: Compression Test Results Quick update after doing some more digging. I ran a compression test across all cylinders to get a better sense of what’s going on. Results came back pretty consistent across the board — all cylinders measured between 190–197 psi. Good sign overall. No obvious...
