I got there a little late this year and missed some vehicles. But here's a post I made on Off Road Action with over 30 photos.

Not yet. I've been busy with other stuff but I hope to work on this more soon. I ended up returning the Trail Gear Longfields and will buy RCV's birfields with the custom length inner axles. The shop that currently has my FJ55 finally got started mounting the engine and trans in it ( see here in...
It doesn't let me upload a video as an attachment. Here is a link to it in my Dropbox. It won't open until that second unlock sound a few seconds later after the first time you press the button...
Quick update on my FJ55. I ended up returning the Longfield FJ80 birfields/axles to Trail Gear. Sometime in the future I'll go all in and spend the money on RCV's but I still need to figure out the inner axle lengths. My friend had a stock birfield that he shipped to me so I need to mock it all...
I just bought a 2004 4wd V8 and the rear hatch takes a few seconds before it will open. Is that normal? Press the button on the hatch, it makes a noise but won't open, a few seconds later it will open. It also has a Viper alarm installed so not sure if that has anything to do with it?
@landcruisnman I'll take a black in large. Mike just called me to tell me about this. I'll share it on my Off Road Action social media and put it on our calendar at Race-dezert.com
Yes, a friend had one that he shipped to me. But its the short version. That should still work fine for figuring out the inner shaft lengths though. I just haven't had time to mess with it yet, and forgot to update this thread.
I just got a spec sheet from RCV on their birfields and they are also 4" diameter, not 5" like stock birfields. He said the strength is from the materials used and you would break an inner shaft before the CV bell. So now I'm curious how much of a difference there is in the Longfields and RCV's...
I'm building a custom front end for my 55 project with a Ruff Stuff housing and 80 series parts. It's wider than stock and I need to figure out the inner axle shaft lengths that I need to order from RCV. I don't have the stock axles and birfields and it would help if I had at least one birfield...
Apparently I like to make things difficult for myself... But I already had a rear 9" rear end with the wider WMS that I am using. And I've seen other 55's running wheel spacers on 60 or 80 axles that worked. I don't like running spacers though. I've also talked to my friend at Fiberwerx about...
Might be a long shot, but does anyone have a used/bad 94+ birfield they would sell me, or I can just pay shipping if you want to get rid of it. It would help if I had one to try and get a more accurate measurement for the custom length inner axles that I need to order.
I got the long body hubs in from City Racer yesterday.
I also got the Longfield FJ80 30 spline gun drilled birfields a few days ago from Trail Gear. But I noticed that the bell end seemed smaller than it should be. Stock FJ80 is 5" and these are 4". I confirmed with Trail Gear that they are...
