    Newborn Jaundice?

Neonatal jaundice is common. On average good hospitals have to readmit about 1% of babies for therapy. Some can be treated with lights at home. Rarely it can progress to cause brain damage (kernicterus), so we watch closely. The level that is high enough for concern depends on the baby's age...

    Spokane-Athol,ID

Back when I lived in Spokane (a long time ago, now) someone was stealing cows and displaying their remains by the side of the road. Unfortunately, that's what I will always associate with Athol.

Do they still do animal sacrifices in Athol? It's been a while since I've heard.

Small plane crash view from inside the cockpit

He's had practice crashing. Last one was in 2010. http://www.mtexpress.com/index2.php?ID=2005130881&var_Year=2010&var_Month=04&var_Day=14

Yes, he had a long long time to realize he didn't have the lift to make it. Even a non-pilot like me can tell.

heat soaked engine gets idle surge on restart.

I won't say that that gasket isn't working poorly elsewhere and causing trouble in one of the passages or another internally, but I don't think that gap is your issue. The magic number for the step up rod is 28.5 mm.

heat soaked engine gets idle surge on restart.

Well, unless it's completely closed off by the choke valve, there's a lot of air coming down that giant hole in the top of the carburetor and that little sliver of air isn't going to amount to much. :D

Small plane crash view from inside the cockpit

This happened just a month or so ago. There was quite the discussion in the paper among local pilots about the wisdom of taking off at that time of day with those temperatures. One of the kids from the accident entered the discussion and it got quite heated. Very interesting to see...

That leak would ONLY affect you if you need full choke, unless it's leaking on the inside around the float chamber too. It looks like you have the standard metering rod from what I can tell. Here's the selection of rods for the SD50 as posted a few years ago by Mark A. (Mark, I apologize if...

heat soaked engine gets idle surge on restart.

I'm tempted to say "unbelievable". Where ever I look up acceleration stumble or hesitation, they seem to say something about air/fuel mismatch. I believe that acceleration stumble is what I'm hearing in Destin's video (and my truck has done that too, Destin). Obviously, vacuum leak is only...

heat soaked engine gets idle surge on restart.

You might have a vacuum leak in a hot engine that you don't have when it's cold. Our older engines have cast iron manifolds and they may change a lot with temperature. You can test it hot and cold. Just get one of those little propane cylinders for brazing/welding/plumbing at the hardware...

heat soaked engine gets idle surge on restart.

I agree that the soapy water method won't help you find a vacuum leak. The method I was taught involves a little bottle of propane and a hose to direct it around the manifold gaskets and base of the carb, where most leaks occur. http://www.ehow.com/how_12170503_vacuum-leak-propane.html Other...

Destin I've had this happen rarely, and it hasn't happened for a long time. I don't have a lot to add to what's already been said. Did you check for a vacuum leak yet? I saw you were going to. I wondered about water in your gas. Also, I always use ethanol free gas now. Your plugs look...
