Thank you! although tbh it won't look like that, usually something like that would just be 3 prints. You sketch up the entire panel in CAD and then split it in a way that looks somewhat natural (in this case the sub insert 1/3rd, then split the long rear section in half). From there you attach...
I thought on this issue for a while and I'm pretty opposed to anything that looks very very non-oem. The left side sub was at least color matched until I added the windlace trim filler.
The solutions I've come up with for the right side sub aren't really desirable. There's two issues here...
oof
Ran the wires, tested the sub, worked great.
Started on the trim install anddd I didn't leave enough clearance
gonna have to think on this one for a bit, I don't have the time to fix it tonight
Edit:
As a side note, these two little 6.75" kickers pack a punch, I'm entirely happy with them
Got the case pretty much wrapped up today
Riveted the only spot in the panel that I could
Mounted well, was worried first about the clearance of getting a socket in there but it worked out
Drilled the holes and ran wiring to the speaker + the connectors
Finally coming together. Just...
I went back to the other side..this gap is killing me so I tried to use a leather trim filler
I was feeling good about it until I put it on
I'll say it looks a lot better than before, but still not great. Especially the color difference..I don't really know what to do about it though
The...
Put fiber inside the best i could to seal the faceplate on but the working area was super small. To ensure a good seal I did the exterior as well, knowing that I would have to trim it down.
Trimmed down, super sloppy looking as of now:
I applied one more layer of fiberglass to the box to...
Hahah thanks, wouldn't say junkie though. This is my first shot at something like this.
The only place to put a sub up front is the passenger footwell, but on a RHD that space has the fuse panel and my wife would complain about legspace. Hoping that two small 6.75" subs in the rear will have...
The walls are quite reinforced, I ended up using an excessive amount of layers. I did add the rib just for vibration control.
I was thinking about glueing it but I feel like over time the vibration will cause it to separate. I do have sound treatment behind it already but you're right about...
Finally starting to come together. Was able to get all air holes filled, and installed a small rib. The rib probably wasn't necessary for a case of this size. I also scuffed up the case real well with an angle grinder, because I noticed that new layers take way better when the cured surface...
It ended up being 9.3L before the sub and faceplate is installed, so I could have really saved myself some effort by not doing the left side triangle.
One last test fit before installing the face
Very unsure about mounting it still.
ooh 🤣 yeah I don't know the volume yet. I can't necessarily make it any bigger at this point so I actually haven't been concerned about it. This kicker has a minimum volume requirement of 5.1L (0.18 cubic foot), I'm positive that it covers at least that much.
I just patched up the last of my...
With this amp i have the gain up on the front at about 30% while the radio's EQ is set to flat, and normally the back is closer to 40-45%. My front HPF is about 80hz but that is basically a guess because I tuned it by ear without actually testing the connections with a multimeter, and the back...
Hmm mine were 6.5" when I got them:
It had Alpine DDliners which were released in 1999. Previous owner just installed risers to make the 6.5 fit, since the rear of the speaker narrows down before entering the sheet metal. These are 25 years old though and had to go.
That being said the...
