SOLD Thousand Oaks CA 1971 FJ40

I definitely felt stupid...sheesh...and the getting it in and out took the wind out of my sails and significantly reduced my daily drives. I eventually just left it outside and covered it.

SOLD Thousand Oaks CA 1971 FJ40

I just sold it...it was pretty hilarious, but when the laughter ended I was bummed. I bought a cheaper right that clears by about 2-3 inches...much less stress!

    Snorkel

My purpose for adding a snorkel is actually simply to get cold air to the engine...I don't plan on any deep water crossings. I'm running a 427 Ford motor in the FJ, with a Wilson throttle body with a 5 and 1/8 in neck. Currently it has an aluminum 90° angle 4 in plenum that goes to a K&N oiled...

    Snorkel

Hey folks! Can anyone tell me if this, although it is advertised for '80 and up FJ40s, would fit a '71? SCITOO Intake Snorkel Kit for 1980-1984 for Toyota 40/42/ 45/47 Series for Land for Cruiser ST040A Left & Front https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C9ZN7TXK?tag=ihco-20 I thought the body work from...

SOLD Thousand Oaks CA 1971 FJ40

45 obo...or consider trade for something wife would approve of for commuting/mall crawling (like a 4Runner/Atlas/Highlander/Telluride that folds flat for dogs and has back seats for people). Not a lot of wheeling in our future, apparently. Happy wife happy life, right? Here is a quick video I...

SOLD Thousand Oaks CA 1971 FJ40

Hello! Fortunately the guy I bought it from is In his late 60s and was easy on the skinny pedal. I am getting close to 60 as well, and am just going to go the mall crawl route going forward. He did have the axles replaced with good stuff, and Birfields replaced, and 6-shooters, so there's that...

SOLD Thousand Oaks CA 1971 FJ40

Hello! I recently bought a 1971 FJ40, and was stoked...but my wife is still bummed that I sold my new Bronco (and lost a lot of money) to buy it. She thinks is it too tall, too loud, too small for us and our dogs, and not a fraction as comfortable as the Bronco (or her 4Runner). In addition, to...

Ruff Stuff 9.5" LC rear diff. cover

That's the thing...sprung over, pinions rotated appropriately. Pinion center is no longer be reflective of truly horizontal orientation. I was thinking simply filling the front diff with a stock cover to the recommended 2.6 quarts, and then measuring from the surface of the gear oil to the base...

Ruff Stuff 9.5" LC rear diff. cover

I just got one...how much additional fluid does it hold? I called rough stuff and they no longer make them...and they couldn't even tell me how much more fluid it holds. I know I'm not supposed to fill it to the lip of the fill plug because it is so much higher than the OEM one.

SOLD MT: 9.5 Ruffstuff Diff Cover

I am just baffled that the manufacturer has no recommendation for fluid level...

SOLD MT: 9.5 Ruffstuff Diff Cover

It is bolted on like so...I believe it is correct, and that the filmhole is intentionally high to compensate for rotating the diff for a lift. The cover is also notch inside to accommodate a larger ring gear, and that can only go one way.

Ruff Stuff 9.5" LC rear diff. cover

I have one...can you tell me the correct capacity? I bought the FJ used...even the company that makes them has no idea.

SOLD MT: 9.5 Ruffstuff Diff Cover

Hello! Question...I have the same cover, and have zero idea what the capacity is (I bought my rig used). The company that makes it couldn't tell me either...and there is no way it gets filled to threads in fill plug or it would mean full axle tubes...what is the correct capacity?
