Update. I ended up going with an aluminum (Liland 1469AA3R) radiator, oem belts and hoses, thermostat, and replaced the water temp sensor and sender on the bottom of the thermostat housing. This fixed my cold start issue and my temp gauge issue. Turns out the sensor and sender were bad/broken...

Welcome! I'm pretty new to the cruiser as well. And I'm not to far from you in Huntsville. I used the slee guide and this forum when I bought mine. Def be ready to pull the trigger. They're going quick! I found mine on fb market place and a few others on Craigslist. Happy hunting

I do need to replace a few hoses and such that are starting to get dry. I also discovered my exhaust manifold has lost the nuts to the down pipe. Resulting in a "tick" I'll have to take a pic and post it. It's interesting.
