So I have 1983 FJ60 with 5.3l vortec and H55f trans. been driving it for about 2 years but suddenly on a trip to AZ and UT the clutch when hot started not releasing fully making shifting near impossible I used the following adapters stuff:

So I have an LS, 5.3l vortec. Do you think I should use ATF also? My gear box is leaking and am about to remove it for rebuild. Have been using PS fluid.
Do you have part number for that core? In a separate thread a guy with my same set up got the denso FJ 60 core and found it to be about 3" too tall to fit in his housing.
To complicate things further I find my unit is apparently some older design evaporator. The expansion valve is in the engine compartment and there is no provision for a low pressure sensor, thermistor or the larger evaporator now used. So going to look for a complete evaporator system housing...

Shouldn't there be an anti freeze thermistor on the outlet side of the evaporator? I'm getting ready to put AC in my 60. It has some sort of aftermarket system that doesn't work.
