    There is a link in the 60's series FAQ for The fj62 4wd vacuum solenoid fix for cheap that will fix your woes, go ahead and do both, one easy fix it was.Works perfect now,I forgot I even did this til I saw your post.

    High output ignition,,,for better gas mileage?

    I get about ten MPG on average, With 31x10 tires and 600 + pounds of equipment. I know this about average but I still would like it to be better.

    I have an 1989 FJ62 that I just love...except that it does not get very good gas mileage. I traditionally put MSD ignitions on my vehicles right after I get them. Usually resulting in better performance and much better gas mileage. But with my cruiser I have shied away from modifying from stock...

    FJ62 on Criminal Minds:Beyond Borders

    Gary Sinise cruises about in a really nice FJ62 catching bad guys. It is dark grey and has been blacked out, all together a pretty cool looking setup. Hi tech even.
