Stalling issues - Will my LC ever be reliable?

yea that’s on the list of to-do’s.Gonna try fusible link first. It’s looking pretty gnarly from the previous owner. I’ll go distributor next. Glad you got things to work. Gives me hope.

Any fusible link experts in Los Angeles?

I know this is probably simple for many but I'm not very knowledgeable. Trying to learn though. I've had my 80 for a little over year. It's always in and out of the shop. Cant get rid of a stalling issue. Sometimes its fighting to stay on at idle or even driving. Other times it runs fine. No...

    Los Angeles Mechanic Shop

The peeps at RPM Garage are super solid. Honest dudes and good work. Warning though, it takes FOREVER due to popularity and demand. They work hard and fast but damn, they got sooooo many people that rely on them.

Stalling issues - Will my LC ever be reliable?

Yea my guess is that red wire IS the third female connector chopped up by the previous owner. I dont see a Male connector to go into the female so im assuming its that. I think someone previously cut it off. I think I found some super duper handy pics via search. Im guessing I cut the red in...

Stalling issues - Will my LC ever be reliable?

Ok. I FINALLY got my fusible link and replacement junction block. Took a closer look this morning at everything and good christ, if the fusible link doesn't end up being my problem, I should've replaced and cleaned everything a while ago either way. Is it just me or did the previous owner do...

Stalling issues - Will my LC ever be reliable?

I agree. Ordered up 2 fusible links and junction box from Wits End. Also gonna check the o2's and see if they need cleaning. Might even just replace them. Figure these are relatively easy things to do. I'm doing more research on plugs, wires and cap replacement. Thanks for the encouragement...

Recommend a LC mechanic in SFV- Los Angeles

Im just gonna go ahead and bump this up from the dead but is there a newer more current list? I'm looking for a solid MECHANIC for my 94 LC. Not a shop that's good at rigging lift kits but just some solid Yoda-Level LC mechanics. Anyone have a solid person / shop?

Stalling issues - Will my LC ever be reliable?

Both. When she decides to throw a fit, it'll feel like the engine is fighting to stay on at idle. I try putting it into drive and the thing just jerks around until I come to a stop and shut it off. I'll restart it after shutting off and its like nothing happened. Just runs. This is a super dumb...

Stalling issues - Will my LC ever be reliable?

Yup. You and @inkpot bring up some good points. Ive never done a compression check. I'll do that next. Im not the most knowledgable car guy (hence why im humbly asking you guys), let alone LC specific. Slowly getting around to learning everything. So with that said, I dont think its spark...

Stalling issues - Will my LC ever be reliable?

Sigh. Maybe. I like my guys a lot. Solid people. But maybe my rig is too much for them to take on at this time. Its certainly not the fun stuff like putting lift kits on.

Stalling issues - Will my LC ever be reliable?

Im considering it. I'm sad. I like these guys a lot. I know they said they checked a ton of this stuff. o2, EGR, plugs. Haven't specifically asked about dizzy but Im sure (or hoping) that they did. Yes, I agree, this is a good start. I'll continue on. Fingers crossed.

Stalling issues - Will my LC ever be reliable?

Thanks for linking this ( and giving me the short version :) ) . I'm pretty sure it still has the original o2. Mechanics said they checked them and seemed to be fine. Either way, this is good info to have for down the line.

Stalling issues - Will my LC ever be reliable?

Hello masterminds of Mud, So I’ve had my 94 LC for about a year. The whole time, its been in an out of the shop. It’s always had a rough idle / stalling issue and after multiple trips to my mechanic, nothing seems to fix the darn issue. Sometimes, I’ll get a rough low idle and the engine...

    How To: Belt Moulding Replacement

This thread has been super helpful. I got my car without mouldings. Glad to finally put them in. Question for anyone but how necessary are the screws for the front? The screws are long gone. Anyone have the exact part number for these screws? Attaching picture from previous post about the screws...
