Not at all. I'm all over the place with my interests too. If you want to start playing with Very Uninformative meters, I catalogued this web site a long time ago and its still active: https://michaelfidler.com/articles/practical-vu-meter-circuits/ I made a board with a circuit he designed...

I've flirted with tube gear but haven't really repaired any. That's a fascinating area of specialization. The last project I was working on was an opamp VU meter driver for old Simpsons. Works pretty good.

You might try calling these Guys. I haven't been in the game for a couple of years and I haven't ordered from them but I'm coming up short on this particular part. I may have an aftermarket that will fit but will have to dig it out. The PN is : SP0201007...

I like your kit. It's a good idea and I may go that route eventually. It's hard to say right now whether I'll go the way of modernized modifications or try to duplicate OEM. I can see where one could get a significant voltage drop under load using the OEM fusible link. I'll have to see how...

Fast window mod - motor relays on a PCB!

I built up the contacts on my window switches (87 Toy Pickup) about 13 years ago and they work decently if slowly. I had a look at the prints for the pickup and the circuit looks identical to me. It would be nice to wire up a set of your PCB's in the pickup. My FJ60 has crank windows.

No, I didn't get the stock carburetor. The guy I bought it from received as a gift from his Dad. He intimated that they were going to resto-mod it together. I think they were planning to engine swap it among other things. Unfortunately his Dad fell ill and he didn't want the truck around...

I'll keep that in mind. I know it's currently out of adjustment at least.

9-23-2025 I think the next step is to pull the engine. She runs but I need to have a look at the internals so that I can get the crying over with and move on. Besides, she puking oil from the rear main. More to follow (in a few days?).

Thanks for the info. I use rockauto a lot. One thing I learned about them is to order a long list of things and try to make sure its all coming from the same warehouse because of shipping charges. Thanks for the part number.

Thanks, kirvesmies. For the welcome and the advice. Everything helps. I've been doing mechanic stuff all my life but learn something new every day. Posting and conversing here is like having advisers in my pocket and I'm grateful.

9-23-2025 Regarding the charging situation: The alternator may or may not be inoperable. I decided to start with the wiring harness. I inspected the wiring harness and zeroed in on the fusible link. The red wire had been replaced with 18AWG automotive wiring and all the pins and crimps...

Hey, Spike Strip thanks for the carb info. This is why I'm sharing this stuff with y'all. The year is 1984. It does have a brake booster and I wasn't aware that the master cylinder was incorrect. I'll look into it.
