    FJ40 for wheeling

I don’t have an FJ40 but I have a Jeep CJ of about the same vintage. Look for rust and if it had rust how was it repaired. Rust is usually the killer for these vehicles. Hidden rust can be even worse. Look at what modifications it has and how were they done. If everything is a hack job it will...

22 year old Timing Belt ...

I just did this on my truck. I am in San Diego. A local shop I trust quoted me ~$1700 to do the timing belt, seals, pump, etc. Did not include cam seals on my VVTI truck. I ended up doing this myself. I did replace the crank seal but left my VVTi cam seals in place. they were not seeping or...

    Steering Rack Upgrade?

The only post I have ever seen regarding this indicated that the LC100 diff and LC200 diffs are not mounted the same. https://forum.ih8mud.com/threads/can-you-put-a-200-rack-into-a-100.1265323/post-14081732

    Help with Towing a Trailer

First make sure that you have the hitch height set-up properly. Next you need to have some idea about the tongue weight to make sure that you have the appropriate load bars for your weight distribution hitch. The hitch and load bars will be rated for the tongue weight. Once you have that then...

    Big Bear-a-thon for June 2023

I’m interested. I’m in a mostly stock 100 with sliders. Is camp accessible with a trailer or tent only?

    06 LX470 Towing Update

Just as one more added data point. I have an 07 and tow a ~4klb trailer including gear but not people. We have three kids and the dog. I had a similar experience with the truck shutting off. 100 degrees outside towing up a mountain grade at about 5k' elevation. My truck had 150k on it. I...

    Hdj100 Ahc front delete

I don't know the reason for you removing the AHC but if you are going to do that I would remove the AHC system completely and then add air bags to the rear for load carrying. The air bag kits are inexpensive and easy to install.

    driving without radiator cap

I'm assuming that they simply did not attach the radiator cap correctly and you do not have some serious engine issue that blew the cap off. If the truck ran fine on the way home I would very surprised you wouldn't have noticed. If that is the case I wouldn't worry about it too much other than...

    AHC and rear sag

Your AHC equipped truck doesn't have traditional shocks. Those things underneath your truck that look like shocks (dampers) are not shocks. They are basically hydraulic actuators that set the height of the vehicle. The damping comes from the globes. If you replace the actuators (and globes)...

LV LC RV Tow Car Build

What do you need to do to the driveline for flat towing? Transfer case and transmission in neutral? Do they have oil slingers to prevent damage? Or do you have to add an oiling system? I don't know anything about flat towing a LC.

Flat tire foam inside air bags?? Good idea?

I'm not sure what air bags you are running but the Airlift bags in my truck were under $100 for the whole kit. I see single replacement bags for about $40 although I would recommend replacing both unless you have damaged a relatively new set.

Flat tire foam inside air bags?? Good idea?

I would assume that you will have to remove the air bag and rotate it to get the sealant to wash over the hole. If I was going to the trouble of removing it I would just spend the money to replace it. Just an opinion.

    AHC problem with turning?

Can you repeat the problem in your driveway? Turn the wheel left and right, what does it do? If you hear rubbing a guess may be the sensor bracket rubbing on the tires while turning and causing an issue. Possibly the sensor bracket has come loose or you've yanked on it.
