While wheeling over the weekend at dusy-ershim, my front caliper decided to fall off somewhere at the middle of Thompson hill ... long story short, I'm looking into upgrading the brake system on my cruiser.
While searching, obviously few options came up (mainly old threads). However, one option...
Tow hitch - was thinking of welding something as well .. not sure about rating though. With regards to speed, should re-gearing solve the issue?
Swing arm - interesting solution you got there, only concerns is weight. Wondering if it's capable enough to hold large wheel with all the bumps we're...
Yet to do that .. but, when you say it's useless and:
- most of the time it stays in the middle,
- goes up when climbing a hill / idle
- post fix it stopped going up when idle
Should I just void that and try ODB when heat goes up?
Update
What was done:
Drain, clean and refill original fan clutch with 20K silicone
Replaced Radiator w/ 'LILAND GLOBAL' from RockAuto
Replaced water pump w/ 'AISIN'
Replaced thermostat w/ 'AISIN' 170 degree
So far (couple of months), there was only one time when the temp gauge start going...
Anyone makes such bumpers? 👇
Was looking at TG rear bumper but have two issue w/ it, lack of:
1. tow hitch, &
2. swing arm(s) option for spare
Any suggested workaround or options?
RockAuto only have 'LILAND GLOBAL' as all aluminum option. I already got the aluminum / plastic radiator and prefer to get one that's all aluminum. Since that particular one was not recommended above, wanted to see if this is it still a good option...
Based on above feedback, looking for recommendations on the following items:
Radiator (aluminum? 4 row?)
Thermostat (although replaced, maybe there's a more trustworthy item?)
Ordered 20K CST silicone oil.
On my TODO list:
Replace radiator (w/ proper foam around) and possibly thermostat)...
Thanks for all the feedback. To clarify:
Coolant always topped off (note - sometimes when turning off engine, coolant boils and comes out of reservoir tank)

My rig got this heating while idle issue. As of now I've replaced the following: radiator, thermostat, fan clutch and radiator cap. Issue remains.
Just back from the Rubicon and the only trick that helped keeping it cool was revving at around 2k RPM every time gauge start climbing up.
