Gauging Interest - New (Con-ferr Style) Roof Racks

@jbee - Nice, classic Con-ferr rack! Looks like you're attaching it to your raingutters with the Bulldog 2.0 clamps that I designed for DiamondRax! And, you're right, I need to find a market with higher density (J**ps, 4Runners, Tacos, etc) to fund my true passions!

Gauging Interest - New (Con-ferr Style) Roof Racks

Hey Jeff - Great to hear from you and glad the rack is still in service. Yes, hopefully, we can get a new rack system out to the market with some improvements (including the coatings used). Thanks for reaching out...

Gauging Interest - New (Con-ferr Style) Roof Racks

Hey squeezer - Thanks so much for your thoughtful and detailed input....very valuable. I like a lot of what you've said and agree with many of your points. It would be interesting, though, to see what happens once you start factoring cost back into the equation. I've not worked with...

Gauging Interest - New (Con-ferr Style) Roof Racks

jembourbe - Thank you for your thoughts and observations. I agree that an era-correct appearance would be advantageous. In fact, that's why, with DiamondRax we had used the sheet metal wrapped around the corners of the rack, just like the old Con-ferr units - no other racks had that. I...

Gauging Interest - New (Con-ferr Style) Roof Racks

All good points. Yes, with a traditional basket-style roof rack, garage access is definitely a consideration. Gamiviti makes a quality rack, for sure. Thanks very much!

Gauging Interest - New (Con-ferr Style) Roof Racks

Well, thus far, responses and feedback have been positive. Switching gears now....here are a few questions: 1) What are some other roof racks for the FJ40's that are currently on the market and what do you see as their pros and cons? 2) If you were going to design a roof rack for your 40...

Gauging Interest - New (Con-ferr Style) Roof Racks

Yes, you're absolutely right, Smurf....vans are a hot ticket. They tend to be BIG racks too (read expensive). Shipping was tough on the long racks....sometimes we built them in two sections, so they could be bolted together in the middle. Otherwise, trying to make them in one piece was a...
