This may be a silly thing, and I'm not experienced enough to know why it happens or if it could help -- but on my 77 I have to jump the RPM's fairly high at the start before the indicator jumps to charging. If I don't do that, it runs on a constant draw.

I have this exact same squeak that started this morning. I'm going to try your wd40 method and report back. Hopefully its as simple as that.

I'm running a '77 intake with the CA downey header. No modifications made.

Thanks for your reply - I'm looking for more of an aesthetic solution, rather than functional. The rest of the knobs on the dash have the nice finished bezel - it'd be awesome to find somethign similar in style.

Yes you can! I replaced the entire floor without pulling the tub.

Do you have a video? Have you double checked all the bolts are tightened down? I had a chirp coming from the alternator bracket once. can you remove the belt and spin the air pump? I’m a noob so others will have more to say I’m sure.

Oh man, 14ga would have been awesome, I have the tissue paper ones installed from cruiser heaven out of Columbia…. Not replacing anytime soon, that was one heck of a project
