I will look into the heat shield clearance issue, I figured it was some type of spacer that I was missing. So an HEI will work with the factory carb? It would be nice to go Toyota, but at this point I don’t care. I’ll just buy a decent quality HEI conversion unit.

I guess that’s what I did essentially. I had to weld some 1/4” plate to extend the perch and drill the hole exactly where it needed to be, otherwise it would been right on the edge of the perch. Rotated the pinion towards the TC at the same time.
