new engine for the FJ62 at some point.

I love that there are those with the skill and dedication to stay all Toyota on the drivetrain...but there is a reason so many fall to the dark side...

Replacing Seat belts - FJ60 - My own experience

Sorry - I don't recall the style, but I had to drill them out to remove the bracket. The new hardware may have been 7/16", but I'm not sure (my record keeping for this was poor).

Those are not the original hardware, just Grade 8 hex head bolts from Home Depot or wherever. The new belts did not come with anything to re-attach the bracket from the original belts.

Yes, but the only thing it is doing is holding in place the plastic shield/pocket thing behind the reel. Unfortunately, I'm away from my truck and don't have a better photo.

Replacing Seat belts - FJ60 - My own experience

I think that upper tab is just to help keep the orientation of the reel assembly from shifting; the bolt/screw for it was too small to be structural. I just ignored it and went the same route hassassin24 did. ETA - I did put the screw from that tab back in - if I recall, that is the only...

Matt - those are for the seat heaters on my Scheel-Mann seats.

You will need to remove the dogleg bracket from the old assembly and bolt it to the new assembly. I had to do the same on my 84, I seem to recall having to drill out the bolts/rivets to remove the bracket. If you zoom in really close on this photo, you can see how I have the driver's side...

    Daily driving a 60?

Agree with all the comments so far - anything better than 15 mpg will require a diesel or EFI V8 swap. Full disclosure - I have daily driven my 60 for the last 4.5 years with an 5.3 LS / NV4500 swap. 33" BFG KO2s, stock 3.70 gear ratios, lightly loaded aside from bumpers / winch / sliders, and...

New alternator, 60 won’t stay on at idle

Mea culpa on my part - I just looked up the NAPA alternator you got, and it is an external regulated type. The regulator would look something like this if you had it, probably mounted on the fender: No personal experience with the City Racer alternator, sorry.

New alternator, 60 won’t stay on at idle

Both of these alternators look internally regulated - the thing you keep circling in yellow is the noise suppression condenser.

Makes sense - I didn't know the 83's did not have a grommet. Yet another questionmark with my oddball 84.

I got lazy and did not even drill the door; you can feed the wires through the existing hole in the upper hinge plate, then through the b-pillar grommet. Routing from there will depend on your stereo/amp setup, I have a small bluetooth amp under the passenger seat. Also - I was able to fit...

    62 Seat Options

Scheel-Mann Vario F + Planted adapter bracket = basically a bolt-in (at least on early trucks). These seats are eye-wateringly expensive, but worth every penny.

And yes - my 60 is the ratty doppelganger of the hero truck from the Orikawa website.
