What Did You Do With Your 120 Today?

I had about 50k on them, a good amount of that off road. They recommend service at 30k so I’m not upset, they rode pretty good, even tho I was slightly over sprung in the front. When I got the IMS my goals were more of an overland build, but I’ve got the rock crawling bug and have different...

What Did You Do With Your 120 Today?

Finished installing my el cheapo extended/long-ish travel set up to run this summer. My IMS were failing, and after replacing my engine last year I was not ready to splurge for Kings. Lockers and a regear are the priority now. Standard Bilstein 5100's up front with OME 2886's 10.25" Bilstein...

    Lexus GX470 CV Axles

I'm not sure about the Tacoma axles specifically, but there are a lot of part numbers for cv axles as Toyota has updated them a bunch. I believe the latest part number is 43430-60083 which has done away with the cotter pin for a one time use axle nut (90177-A0023)

Timing belt - replacement parts / other maintenance

+1 to the AISIN kit, they are (partially) owned by Toyota and most likely the OE supplier for all the parts in the kit I would also replace the radiator and hoses if they haven't been done recently, it's all gonna come out anyways DENSO 2213125 (also partially owned by Toyota and an OE...

    Gx470 prerunner build

Tons of options for long travel stuff, solo motorsports, wicked creations, total chaos, etc. You just might have to look for 4th gen 4r kits, which share the same front end, as not everyone offers GX specific stuff. and 34's are gonna require basically the same work as 35's, just go big

Is this timing/water pump kit the highest quality?

Recently did this job and have a few tips 1. Order a new fan clutch. The nuts attaching my clutch to the bracket were half rounded and only rounding off more. Maybe my 12mm wrench is really out of spec but I ended up sawzalling the clutch in half to get an extractor on the nuts. Can always...

What Did You Do With Your 120 Today?

The US distributor doesn’t stock them yet but they can order them from AUS for you. They’re for the 120 series Prado and bolt right up. When I inquired it sounded like the first pair they sent over had a different plug than the GX, but that was sorted for mine and it was plug and play. You’ll...

What Did You Do With Your 120 Today?

Got my RCI sliders and Clearview mirrors installed the other weekend, finally hit the trails today and beat them up. Sliders already saved me from panel damage :steer:

question about engine oil: trying to do an oil change on my own - GX470

I was using Shell Rotella (T6 and Gas-Truck varieties) but that became unobtanium and switched to Pennzoil Ultra Platinum. Had no issues switching to full synthetics

What Did You Do With Your 120 Today?

Installed OEM sport headlights and did a transmission fluid flush and replaced the filter/strainer. Pretty easy (especially if you don't drop the pan), but I had to clean the threads of a few bolt holes with a tap and ended up flushing out more fluid than I had at the end. Shifts like a...

    Mechanic recommendation for lifting

The Custom Shop in queens does a lot of GX/4runner/Land Cruiser lifts, I think they’re a Dobinsons dealer too. I went to them for my lift when I lived there and didn’t have a garage big enough for the GX.
