Dumb idea to use rivnuts in fibreglass!
heres where the t-case lever and handbrake crash into each other doh!
My other toyota's being neglected outside. Contemplated putting a 3L turbo diesel 1KZT-E like the hilux and surf have, in the cruiser since they are cheap as here in NZ and make good...
Poor old Coop (the dog) is getting bored of working on the general and just wants to go for a cruise!
Airbox and some other bits came back from powder coating and look far too shiny for this truck!
Also got the h55f in and bolted up to the 3B, waiting on the driveshafts to come back from...
Windscreen out... The windscreen surround is fibreglass and whoever made it had used rivnuts into the glass to attach the hinges.. Needless to say they came loose. Luckily I have a full machine shop at my disposal and a composite bay as well so will make some decent threaded inserts and have...
I got one of these in black from ebay. Very close to the original 4 speed one I have.. ALTHOUGH i just remembered that it has a M12 thread, and an insert to change it to M8. But my original was M10. I made a new shift lever so it didnt matter for me but I'd check your lever..
SHIFT KNOB 5 SPEED...
Heard of a few people here in NZ using MR2 rear calipers as they are reasonably good, and have the built in cable handbrake on the caliper. Find rotors with the right stud pattern and roughly the right offset and make (get someone with the right tools to make) the mounting brackets.
Hi there, After perusing through the galleries on here it seems that the USA spec 40's that have jump seats are all shorter than the AUS/NZ ones like mine shown here. The long ones make fitting a cage much harder, but combined with the 1+2 bench in the front mean you can cart 7 people. 3 up...
Sandblasting , prep for powder coating. Re-machined the flywheel. Looks like someone had done a gash job of it in the past as it took about 0.6mm (.023") to machine it true again...Miraculously it seemed to drive pretty normal despite the run-out.
I will make sure it works properly first! This one doesn't have the plastic bush on the end like a proper h55 one has. I just made the ball to fit snugly inside the cup in the box. It seems to shift through every gear smoothly so far, although the box isnt in yet so will let you know when I test...
Once the box is in I'll cut new shifter holes to suit.. didnt want to cut them yet as I may need to bend the t-case lever a bit more to avoid clashing with the park brake lever.
finished getting the h42 t-case addapted to the H55f for the 5 speed conversion. had to swap out the vacuum stuff for mechanical, modify all the linkages for the mechanical shift from the h42, new home made 'gate' bracket thing on the shifter. I didnt get a shift lever with my $300 second hand...
Yea my wife says the same thing..
Its how I bought it and I will take them off eventually tooting the dixie horns at pedestrians is just too tempting at the moment!
