LX570 rear brakes dust shields cost insane. Why?

Looks like Aisin offers an aftermarket option too now for $170 for pair if this is a legit listing. Went ahead and ordered it but unfortunately says delivery 8/22-8/24. Going to be without this vehicle until part comes but have a backup 3rd gen 4Runner with fresh axle seals and bearings...

So I think the Michelin Defender is the perfect all-terrain tire... (For most of us)

I didn’t end up pulling trigger yet. Was going to wait until the the next sale/promo period. By then, there should be more feedback of users with this new version to provide feedback.

It was in Everett, WA. Perhaps the size and rating is the difference. 275/55R20 XL

Poll-Have you had the dreaded cam tower leak?

I’m going to be tackling this job to address the Timing Chain Cover leak on 2013 LX 570 at 135k. Planning to do Valve cover gaskets as well since the valve covers have to be loosened to remove timing cover. Valve Covers aren’t leaking at moment though. Cam area appears to be dry as well, so not...

Yeah your mileage will vary on the road hazard coverage. For example purposes, we can assume it is forfeited then when you drive away with the tires unmounted. Total Costco Price if you decide to buy from Costco but NOT have them installed by Costco: $100 Promotion Discount + $75.96 ($18.99 Per...

So I think the Michelin Defender is the perfect all-terrain tire... (For most of us)

One other alternative if Costco says no to installing non OEM Tire size on your vehicle is to ask them to refund you $18.99 per tire for the mounting and balancing. Then take it elsewhere. It says that is an option on their site if you choose to not have the tires installed. Granted this is a...

So I think the Michelin Defender is the perfect all-terrain tire... (For most of us)

The 275/65R18 Defender LTX M/S2 is available in XL. I’d choose XL over SL any day if you can get the size you need. Especially since the 200 series weigh 3-tons stock. XL still nice and light compared to LT by about 10lbs per tire and effectively weigh about the same as an SL.

So I think the Michelin Defender is the perfect all-terrain tire... (For most of us)

285/60R18 which is ~31.5” tall is the Toyota specified tire size for the 2008-2021 Land Cruiser. Only way to make the factory size rub is to have aftermarket wheels with different offset. That or running extreme wheel spacers.

Same tire with different branding and possibly slightly different tread pattern for $8 less per tire. Downside is that if you get an Unrepairable flat while traveling without Costco nearby, you’ll have to end up buying the more common Defender LTX M/S2. Assuming they’re nearly identical, it may...

So I think the Michelin Defender is the perfect all-terrain tire... (For most of us)

Not a single chance of rubbing in 275/65R18 being 32.1” tall. Just make sure to get the Defender LTX M/S2 and not the Defender LTX M/S which is the previous gen being phased out at the moment. Not a rip on the prior gen though. They were great proven tires.

    RTH: Alternator Suspect Voltage Output

I'm at 135k on 2013 LX right now. I need to swap the radiator soon as the stress crack at the top is present. I have a new OEM Toyota Brush Holder here ready to be installed into the existing Alternator. I'm very torn as to whether I should just order a new Alternator from Toyota and swap entire...

    2013-2015 LX570 LED DRL voltage?

Thanks. I followed your path but used a Posi Tap instead and just brushed some liquid electrical tape goop into the connector before threading the conductor pin into the factory DRL wire to prevent corrosion. I tapped into just the passenger side headlight harness and plugged that into the...

So I think the Michelin Defender is the perfect all-terrain tire... (For most of us)

The auto manufactures have been shifting towards 20" wheels for awhile now. Definitely a negative trend catering to looks vs function. My factory LX 570 wheels are 20's too. The two front rim faces look awful after one trip to the ORV park last year. Going off road isn't something I do often...

    2013-2015 LX570 LED DRL voltage?

Did you run this Pin #5 wire directly back to the DRL wire of the SS3? Or did you run it to a Relay in between? I'm presuming you had run it direct as you tapped both headlights, but just wanted to clarify. Thanks.

    Another starter thread

I just swapped out the starter on my 2013 LX 570 with 131k miles as a maintenance item. The starter unit I removed had part number 28100-38080. It is the newer smaller housing design and Lexus parts sites state that this part number was used for Production Date: 07/2011-09/2015. The unit looked...
