I'm chasing a couple of electrical issues that I think are related to a bad ground somewhere - does anybody have an electrical schematic for the 62, or know the locations of all of the ground points? I figure the ones I'm probably chasing are behind the dash, but would be good to have eyes on...

I came here looking for the answer to this question. I have been in touch with the land_cruiser_parts_sale_ guy about a $500 bumper for my 62, asked a few questions about wiring for the lights, but I actually got sketched out at the pay pal part. The email address he gave came back unconfirmed...

I had something similar happen on my 62 a while back. I’m not sure if the 2F block has one, but I blew the heater coil out of the side of my engine block at higher revs going up a pass here in CO one fine morning. Same thing you describe here with the huge cloud of white smoke. Just a guess.

I have a 62 with the baggy ol 3F-E and accompanying slush box, and I would totally run with the stock 2UZ engine / transfer case / tranny. My buddy’s 1st gen Tundra seems like it has more than enough power when he’s tailgating in the fast lane going up mountain highway passes!

Reading this thread has been super useful for troubleshooting some similar issues I had this summer going up highway mtn passes, thanks dudes! Although not as severe as your problem (yet), I got to get some reliability dialled in before winter, shes comin up 200K. Wish me luck.

Cheers Lambcrusher! I have the FSM, EFI diagnostic tested fine, fuel filter & air cleaner were ok too. I forgot to mention the shop adjusted valve clearance and ran a compression test which was about 10psi low but consistent. I'll have to have my multimeter with me so I can check the fuel pump...
