Knuckle swap went great! Thanks for asking. You all have been such a valuable resource!
However, a story as old as time... I am now considering selling this rig. I have enjoyed working on and driving immensely, but I need (insert all of the reasons people get rid of old cars and then regret it...
I have recently completed a full bake system replacement with disc brake conversion on my '71 JF55.
So all of the parts I removed are up for grabs from the booster to the backing plates. Knuckles and hubs too.
All of the wear items were in really good shape, and the only things that are...
Hello all!
I am in Portland Oregon and I am swapping 60 knuckles onto my '71 FJ55.
Does anyone have a knuckle centering tool that I could rent or borrow?
I would be happy to pay shipping both ways...
Let me know!
New knuckles ready to go in.
First old knuckle torn down.
Knuckle seal parts
Grease beyond the seal.
Some pitting on the knuckle ball I am going to try to buff out a little.
Hello everyone!
I have been quietly planning my revenge on the failed parts of my pig... and now I have something to show for it!
I pulled the fuel tank out (and of course I had a full tank to drain first), and it was just as hard as everyone had said it was! My vent lines come out on all...
I don't need the whole axle, nor do I want to pay for shipping on a whole axle. Would you be willing to pull the parts off the housing if I just wanted those?

The pig is just not ready for something like this...
Have fun!
I'm looking for a knuckle-out front disc brake set-up to put on my 9/71 FJ55.
Let me know if you have a set laying around
I am in Portland, OR.
Message me if you have something that might work for me.

Sadly I had just topped it off with premium. I had the Pig parked as I was waiting for a good time to do the suspension and steering repairs. I...
Here is the good part.
I got everything put back together, and I was ready to take it out and about.
The wife and kids were out of town, so I got some good work done and a little joy riding.
Nothing better for diagnosing some problems than a few test drives.
I even took it to work a few days...
Here is the disappointing part.
RUST.
Turns out this is a Flintstone car.
The main areas of concern are the drivers floors, and the front seat mounts.
I have some temporary solutions planned while I work on the permanent solution.
More Fluidfilm.
Stripped out a bunch of old wiring that was not longer needed.
The second picture was a wire I found that have been trapped under the valve cover at some point when it was off, and then the wire must have been severed by the rockers or something. Funny.
Got rid of the aftermarket radio and...
