Since one of the pigs (Arnold) is amaizingly unmolested I figured that I would snap a few photos befor the original exhaust was replaced in case any one needed them for reference.

Be aware that the exhaust routing changed for different years.

nice pix..thanks, BTW..........how well do you like your fairey?

Lou

The Fairey works quite well. Provides 27% OD which really brings the revs down for highway driving. I've changed the 90W and thats about it. It's not leaking or making any weird noises. I just hope it doesn't crap out - parts will be unobtainium.

Thanks for the pics. Sure helps. Now if we can just get someone to post pictures of one where the exhaust routs outside the framerail and then back in.

Please.

I have a 7/70 parts pig with the exhaust partially osd the frame rail...I will try to get some shots in the next few days or this weekend if you still want them?

I did not realize it until I was playing with it a night or two back.

That would be a '75 or prior I think.

Okay now I'm confused because from the looks of my 75 it does neither of what the two above do. It does outside the frame rail like the last pics above but when it gets to the muffler it curves back in under the frame rail. The heat sheilds are on the inside. Once it curved back in it would look just like the pics at the top of the page.

Anyone seen this?

Nooooooooooo. Whole idea of over the frame at the engine bay is so exhaust pipe won't get crushed. Before (I was even dumber then) I replaced my CI header the pipes went over the frame rail at the engine bay then down outside of frame rail dumping in front of rear driver side tire. know it was factory routing because of heat shielding. Pipe running under trans skid plate is even worse. mine now runs over skid plate. Toasted my skidplate twice now but no damage to exhaust. The pipe going straight back to rear is bad also. Should outlet right behind rear tire if runing inside frame rail. 55s drag ass so crush. Those exhaust pictures should be held up as exactly what you should NEVER do. I nominate that sucker for worst 55 exhaust pipe routing ever!

Even worse Trollhole, I take back what i said above. THAT pic should be nominated for worst exhaust routing on a pig ever. That is even worse than your engine bay picture. The pick where it goes over the frame in engine bay then back inside frame in front, not so bad but why? i think that keeping pipes as far away from trans as possible a good idea. Why put more heat into drivetrain? What is wrong with staying outside frame and dumping in front of rear tire?

It's not stock.

I'm trying to get this 55 back as close as I can to how it rolled off the showroom floor. I agree it's a terrible design but I don't ever plan on taking this vehicle on anything more rough than a gravel road. Most of the 55's I have seen have a lift and bigger tires. Someone has to make it look stock. If not we will never be able to appreciate how really looked. Have you ever seen a Pig with 27 inch tires?

This is my goal. Heck it even has larger tires.
