Well, I have acquired another project, this one is going to be a long term project. I still need to finish my 63 FJ40 "Snotz" build and complete some projects on the house before I can even think about diving into this one.

This diamond in the rough is a 1967 FJ45LWB aka "Stubby", the wife named it :) I found a pretty clean cab from a 66, I have a few dents on the rocker panel area that need straightening. I then stumbled upon the 67 frame, it looks like hell, but there is only minor surface rust on the frame. The PO had made a flat-bed for it, so I need to remove some horrifically welded tube (read booger welds) from the frame.

Hey that has been my FJ45 short wheel base trucks name for the last 5 years.
He is still in garage, but about ready to come out and play. You can't call a long
wheel base stubby it just doesn't fit. Have fun with the long term build . I
know how they work.

Taylor,

I bought the cab before I got the frame and when the wife first looked at it, she called it "Stubby", so the name stuck. Long bed or short bed, I think the name fits!!

Rob,

The wife has given me a few to-do items on the house:)

i think i have the right windshield for you tony! i'll bring it with me in a couple of weeks. if you want it, then we'll work something out. if not, i'll put it back on the shelf......

congrats on the new ride, super sweet!

PS: what are the plans for this rig?

engine, trans, t-case, axles,.........

Thanks Georg,

I am trying to rearrange my schedule to make it up to Mark's shop for Genes build. If I can swing it I will see you there and check out the windshield frame.

I am weighing all my options right now. Like I said, I have a few home improvements to do and finish my 40 project before I can even think about starting this one. Although, Whitey45 sent some pics of his green 45 and I really like that set up. So, who knows what it holds in store for me :grinpimp:

You could never have to many projects. Cant wait to see this get build. Good luck tony

EDIT, Saw the new rig tony on the 4th. Was driving by to my cusions house, to see fire work. Looks good.

No, they are not!!! Some are very long term projects.

I can't imagine starting something like that. Wish I had the skills.

I have nice doors and a complete windshield (wiper motors included) if interested. No rust. Needs paint.

Hi John,

Thanks for the offer, but I was able to get the original windshield frame (rust free) and I have a clean set of doors, too.

Are your kidding, That frame looks great compared to the one I'm currently working on.:)

Made a road trip last weekend, and found another piece to the puzzle :grinpimp: If every thing works out, the last piece will be in my garage very soon!!

I picked up the "new" bed today. It has a few issues I will need to address, remove the spray in liner, a few rust spots, dents and some straightening. All in all, it is in pretty good shape, I have seen worse.

The rear valance panel looks very good as does the inside of the bed, not too wavy.

Wow Tony, that bed looks to be in great shape. Good buy.

Tony, you get the award for piecing a 45 together so quickly,it took me a few years to find all the pieces. Not to mention you are getting another 45 on the road which is a great thing when you think that for every piece you find, there is a 45 gone forever.:beer:Let me know if you need any small stuff,I may just have it..YT

Thanks Gene, Whitey,

I spent a few days of "do I buy it" or "I think I'll pass", I finally made up my mind with a little Mud help. I had looked at a couple of beds and this one was by far the best candidate for what I want to do. I have 2 other cruiser projects going and did not intend to start sinking a bunch of money into this one so quickly!! Like Whitey said, it has taken 4 FJ45's to get mine to its current stage (its not much to look at right now). I am super excited about this vehicle, as I have wanted one for a very long time. Now it is time to finish my 2 40's so I can really dive into this one:)

Next on the list is a head ache rack, I have a lead on one and will hopefully have it soon. That will be the last of the major pieces I was missing. I still need to locate the wind shield J-hooks and latches to secure the hard top.
