I'm interested in the other aprons. Can you send pics to roscoeivyatmacdotcom?

these aprons also had some hammer and dolly work done to the one with the vent. came out very good, requiring very thin skim coat

Sean I've been car shopping all day for my youngest (28) and it has been fruitful.:frown: Anyway I did check quick and only one of the rear axle was easy to get to. That looked good. I didn't see any measurement as far a go no go cat into it. There is no ridge on it and shoes look like new. Guessing these were just turned. Hopefully tomorrow I can moved a vehicle outside to get the tool boxes away from in front of my axle stand and remove the other drums.

Sean you still interested in the brake drums? I got them off a while ago but haven't made a trip down south yet. I did compare them to the drums I go with a 61 FJ40. Those were different front to bakc but didn't match the FJ25 drums. Now curious did the 61 had a one year only brake drum.:hhmm: I wish I would have picked up the 61 micro-fiche off ebay a few years back.:bang:

These are 25 drums. I was just curious what is up with the other set I have. Those are two different sizes like the 25 but they do not have the small inspection hole like 25 drums. The 61 drums seem heavier. They have the limit spec and TEQ cast into them. Anyone know the limit on 25 drums so I can see if they are still in spec?

typically +.090 max but varies

I have yet to find out out what the original specs are for a 25 drum. most of the times they are stamped on the drums, I can't make any numbers out on any of mine. however 3 of them are at best 50% from the 4th one.

a quote from the FJ25 service manual I have, "The inner surface of the bake drum is an exceedingly important part since it is subjected to tremendous frictional forces every time the brake is applied so that it is necessary that it be inspected whenever possible. If the frictional surface is found worn unevenly, scored through burning, or deformed, it should be repaired immediately by a machining on a lathe but if it should become too thin, it should be replaced.

too funny, I guess sometimes the obvious is often overlooked

most people are concerned with making their car/truck go, I'm more focused on it stopping

Sean,

I'd like that other set of aprons if you still have them.

Thanks-

Pete

Sean @67azcruizr , by any chance do you still have this brake master with you? If yes then I am interested. I know its a very old post but worth trying.
