Just spent 14 monthis in Iraq and now the Army is moving me to the west coast. I have too much to move and the new job will not give me the time to work on the FJ40.

Plan was to restore back to original. As I have taken parts off the truck, I have cleaned and restored them. They are all wrapped and packaged with the truck.

Truck is not perfect by any means but it is a very early VIN# FJ40.

Some of the outstanding members here have helpd with the location of some of the hard to find parts. I also just got alot of the cad plating redone.

Thread on the vehicle and what it looks like is below:

https://forum.ih8mud.com/40-55-series-tech/131000-new-owner.html

I am not out to make money on this but would rather this go to someone that would know what to do with it.

I WILL NOT PART IT OUT.

A trailer will be needed to take it away. Engine ran prior to disassembly (engine is not disassembled) of the truck. Body is on frame and on roller tires.

All the parts that I have collected and restored will go with it. I do not have a soft top for it.

SOLD!

To all the great members that have helped me with this project - thank you and I hope to get back into it later down the road.

Located in Fayetteville, NC

Thanks JohnnyC:cheers:. I am not trying to make a profit on this and would rather have it go to someone here.

Alot of looks but no offers yet. You could probably get more out of it by parting it out but I do not have the time for that now.

Hey Bill, sorry to hear that you have to sell your toy. I've followed your thread, and you did a lot of nice work, and this would be a great project for anyone.

x2 on wishing someone here picks it up and finishes the detailed restoration.

Good luck

Not a nibble yet guys. I appreciate all the kind words though.

I did not think the move would come so fast. Guess it was a good idea to bubble wrap and box everything up before I left for Iraq. Everything is still loaded in the back of the truck.

I really had a lot of fun working on it. I enjoy the research side of a restoration. Hardest but most rewarding little job on it was restoring the steering wheel and rebuilding the carb. Of course the new plating made a big difference too.

I have every intention of getting back into it at a later date. Just can't move all the projects and right now the 1970 Bronco has priority. I have had it for 10 years and it is 98% complete. Prior to that I completely restored a 1966 Mustang back to showroom. Research on that was fun.

All of you have been extremely helpful (yet somehow biased to 25s;p) and it has been fun to be part of it.

This would make a nice twin to a certain 61 FJ-25 soft top;)

Same with me Bill, not even a nibble. But I don't need to sell either......:crybaby:

Can you just store it? I'd hate to see you give it away. :frown:

Can't really store it. Army is moving me to Ft Lewis, WA (about as far opposite in the country to Ft Bragg, NC that I can get). Priority is to haul the EB out there.

Of course the timing sucks as I would rather continue with the restoration especially with the recent threads on 9mm brake line source and the Pakistani Hubcaps being produced.:doh:

Doesn't uncle sam have a transport for it?[/quote]

Nope. I am responsible for transport of vehicles (inside US - overseas they will move one for me)

FJ has been sold. Thanks.

It is off to a good home where it will be restored.
