Just finished up last week. Its out for an extended road debug now through December.

Its a 94 FZJ80 with a used 1HD-T / hydraulic auto. Turned out to be much more than a conversion build as it needed paint and other cosmetic items. Should have a 4xlabs rear bumper in the next few weeks. ARB winch bar was installed after these pics.

A few pics...

Impressed!!!!!!!!
Clean and simple.

The 75 is stock. I disassembled it in 98 (ex mine truck) painted it up then proceeded to roll it and paint it again in 99. Its been daily driven and abused since then. Its a 3B11 rotary pump. Runs great had it since 18K km and currently around 220. Guess I should post some history.

Ill post more pics of the 80 in the next few days thanks .

cheers, I am trying to get a hold of one right now.
very little parts info on these engines. The one I am looking at has a 4 speed and I am trying to find if I bought a parts 60 if the H55 will bolt up without issue:hhmm:

4 speed is likely an H41 if its a mine engine. Keep it or maybe Ill take it.

H55 will bolt up if you have the bellhousing. Otherwise use the bellhousing from the 60 or the alloy housing from a 70.

Beautiful!
What is the cable that runs parallel to the throttle cable and then disappears next to the fuel filter?
Thanks,
Jan

Jan that is the main accelerator cable. It runs from the pedal to the right side to connect to the cruise control mechanism. Then there is another cable from the cc box to the engine.

Ah, thanks! I don't have the cruise control on mine...

cheers,

Impressive work - love the paint job too.

Where did you source the 1HD-T engine?!

are you guys getting engines in CA? Looks like a nice setup. Do you just generally setup the engine stock (boost / fuel pump)?

Nice build and as stock looking as mine, which 12v starter did you use (do you have the number)? I am looking for a stock 12v starter to use in my HD-T (at the moment it has a hybrid unit I built myself) and I wanted to get as much data as possible on the various starters so I can get one 'off the shelf'.

regards

Dave

Thanks guys. The engine is from Japan. Its set up stock at this point. Has a new rear seal, new rod bearings, and a new timing belt. Dave, the starter is a hybrid of a HD/HZ nose cone and another 12v motor I had. Any 12V number you can look up for a 1HZ, 1HD, or 1PZ should fit. Just about any other 2.5kw 12V denso motor should fit the nose cone.

The 4xlabs rear is on now but I only have a crappy picture of that. The best MPG so far is 19. Less than hoped for but seems appropriate given the setup. 315/75 tires (35") and 4.88 gearing with a roof rack. 4.56 would probably be a bit better for highway economy.

Some earlier pics. The engine removed with 1HD waiting, and after Ive already made some progress on body prep for paint.

photos after paint. I did the body work and paint prep then took it to a shop down the street for the actual paint. Stock paint was peeling in spots and there were some dings but nothing major really. Windshield and rear window were removed along with everything else that could come off. Door jams and under hood were painted as much as possible.
The color is a nissan color. I spotted an exterra around town with this color and thought it would be a good fit - since its called "tank green"
