Has anyone used a " Power Rod " and are they hard to install?

By replacing the genuine fuel adjustment rod installed in the fuel spray pump of a diesel turbo car with our Power Rod,
you can increase the amount of fuel and the power of your car.

You can supply fuel in the best way against the rise of excess compression pressure caused during the replacement of
mufflers or air cleaners, thus improving intermediate acceleration and accelerator response.
The power of a car will be increased by 10-15 powers, depending on the car’s model or type.

be careful

there is a spring loaded pin that will close in once you've pulled that baby out. To access the spring, you'll have to pull the cruise control throttle senser and bracket, best done with the pump off the truck.

I have a power rod from Zexel i believe, i would honestly say this is one of the best mods ive done. There is significant power gain all the way through the power band but most noticed in Mid range. Its great for adjusting as its just a lobe that can be increased and decreased.....Intercooler next. Good luck.

Sounds interesting! May I ask where did you buy it from, part number and how can it be installed?
Cheers,

similar to the denny t fuel pin in the cummins bosch ve pumps.

It will mechanically adjust fuel delivery based on the boost (diaphram)

got one for the cummins and it makes a big difference, but also makes more smoke with a heavy foot, but.. it makes a big difference, and fairly quick to install/remove.

I picked up my power rod from dan at 4 wheel auto i cant remember the price though around 300$ i believe. Easy and simple part to improve your POWER!!!!

All factory turbos using the VE pump have one of these std - Aneroid fuel pin.

As for the pin profile, that is something you can change and in fact is best tailored to your vehicle anyway.

These pumps only last 200,000km or so and their fueling characteristics change with time - evenly on all cylinders since 1 plunger feed all cylinders (probably the only advantage over an inline pump - other than size and cost).

I almost always make some modification to this pin when I tune - and since it works with a spring, the tension is equally as important. When tuning for maximum performance, such as when installing my "Go Hard" turbo upgrade where it can use all the fuel the pump can deliver, I have very specific settings for this pin and mods in order to max out the main fuel screw and still get some level of acceptability of off boost smoke.

So my advice is dont waste your money.

Yeah you can save your money by machining the rod to what you'd like your lobe profile to be. As i wasn't as mechanically inclined when i bought the truck as i am now.........thanks IH8MUD so i opt'd to buy one when i was on vacation.

Guess which one sells more units? :)

I opted to modify mine last year when I upgraded my turbo then a whole lot more this year when I upgraded my turbo again. You really need to if you want to make use of more than 15psi and still have civilized exhaust.

The truck is actually kind of quick now!

I think you need 30psi now ;-)

There are at least 3 different manufacturers of fuel pins for the VE pump, which isnt on all 12v models.

Is the toyota fuel rod profiled on a lathe, or is it notched like the denny T?

the toyota pin is similar to the two on the left (but different) :D

it's turned, but on a tapered axis (not sure of terminology)

I reground mine to improve the fueling at high boost(18-22psi), as I was finding mine would cut the fuel as the boost when up above 15psi. Regrinding definitely helped.

The power rod is the best bang for the buck as far as power enhancers go.

Did anybody noticed a difference in fuel consumption?
