302,260 original km. One registered owner from new (I have the signed registration document as bill of sale). Strong diesel 3B engine.
I have labelled it as a "project truck" because it will require a dedicated enthusiast to restore it or some might consider it a parts truck. I bought the truck as a project and intended to restore to original. This is before my '79 BJ40 became a project when the body on it finally gave up the ghost and is now my "Alaska" truck project. This '82 BJ42 is for sale to help pay for the engine going into my "Alaska" project truck.
What you need to know. The PO of the '82 BJ42 for sale t-boned a car that ran a yield and the frame is bent approx. 3" to the passenger side from about the front axle forwards. The frame also requires attention in the rear corners where the bracing to the rear sill is badly rusted. I inquired about replacement frames and the going rate at the beginning of 2008 was about $800 and I have contacts in Ontario and Montana. The body is rough and will require much work or replacement parts. The good news is that the engine appears to be strong & sound with no smoke once warmed up. I have only driven the truck around my friend's farm, where the truck is presently stored and I make assumption that the compression numbers would be fine if I were to test them, which I can do for interested parties. The oil pressure appears to be fine also based on the seperate oil pressure gauge. The transmission and transfer case are fully functional and without gremlins. The rest of the parts seem to be all there. I have a '82 steering wheel to replace the earlier model if the purchaser so desires as the original owner kept the steering wheel for posterity's sake.
I have accumulated a number of parts for the truck for my intended restoration. They are in very good to excellent condition, solid with perhaps only light surface rust in localised areas. I have listed a price that you would expect to have to pay if you ordered them from breakers in the U.S. (e.g. SOR, Cruiser Parts, FJ Parts).
Hood with hinges: USD 150 to 400
Bib & Bezel: USD 150 to 350
Fender: USD 135 to 300
Ambulance door complete: USD 170 to 400
Spare tire carrier: USD 140 to 225
Roll bar with pads: USD 200 to 250
Hard top side panel complete: USD 245 to 500
Rear jump seats (Very close to Mint condition! Came out of a new truck when it was new and stored. Thanks Wayne / Crushers) USD 300 to 350 a pair (for core, refurbishable state only)
I'll throw in a set of used '40 springs and I have a fully functional school bus heater if you wan't kick ass rear heat.
I have started to take pictures. Please follow the enclosed link to my Picasa web album page. I'd be happy to answer any questions from interested parties and I will be taking pictures of the remaining parts as soon as I'm able to.

Location: Near Calgary, Alberta, Canada
Price: CAD 3500 (approx. USD 2800 at present exchange) for truck and listed parts complete. I would like to try and sell as a complete package. I may consider selling truck and parts separately dependent on response to package sale. This price is exactly what I paid 18 months ago with a few additional parts I'll throw in. I would like to recoup my money to help pay for my "Alaska" truck project so price is firm.
Shipping: I will work with the buyer to arrange pick-up or shipping as necessary at the buyer's cost.
Availability: Now till it's gone.
Contact: Via this thread or email. I will endevour to review both once a day.
Thanks for looking.
Regards
Jim
