302,260 original km. One registered owner from new (I have the signed registration document as bill of sale). Strong diesel 3B engine.

I have labelled it as a "project truck" because it will require a dedicated enthusiast to restore it or some might consider it a parts truck. I bought the truck as a project and intended to restore to original. This is before my '79 BJ40 became a project when the body on it finally gave up the ghost and is now my "Alaska" truck project. This '82 BJ42 is for sale to help pay for the engine going into my "Alaska" project truck.

What you need to know. The PO of the '82 BJ42 for sale t-boned a car that ran a yield and the frame is bent approx. 3" to the passenger side from about the front axle forwards. The frame also requires attention in the rear corners where the bracing to the rear sill is badly rusted. I inquired about replacement frames and the going rate at the beginning of 2008 was about $800 and I have contacts in Ontario and Montana. The body is rough and will require much work or replacement parts. The good news is that the engine appears to be strong & sound with no smoke once warmed up. I have only driven the truck around my friend's farm, where the truck is presently stored and I make assumption that the compression numbers would be fine if I were to test them, which I can do for interested parties. The oil pressure appears to be fine also based on the seperate oil pressure gauge. The transmission and transfer case are fully functional and without gremlins. The rest of the parts seem to be all there. I have a '82 steering wheel to replace the earlier model if the purchaser so desires as the original owner kept the steering wheel for posterity's sake.

I have accumulated a number of parts for the truck for my intended restoration. They are in very good to excellent condition, solid with perhaps only light surface rust in localised areas. I have listed a price that you would expect to have to pay if you ordered them from breakers in the U.S. (e.g. SOR, Cruiser Parts, FJ Parts).

Hood with hinges: USD 150 to 400
Bib & Bezel: USD 150 to 350
Fender: USD 135 to 300
Ambulance door complete: USD 170 to 400
Spare tire carrier: USD 140 to 225
Roll bar with pads: USD 200 to 250
Hard top side panel complete: USD 245 to 500
Rear jump seats (Very close to Mint condition! Came out of a new truck when it was new and stored. Thanks Wayne / Crushers) USD 300 to 350 a pair (for core, refurbishable state only)

I'll throw in a set of used '40 springs and I have a fully functional school bus heater if you wan't kick ass rear heat.

I have started to take pictures. Please follow the enclosed link to my Picasa web album page. I'd be happy to answer any questions from interested parties and I will be taking pictures of the remaining parts as soon as I'm able to.

Location: Near Calgary, Alberta, Canada

Price: CAD 3500 (approx. USD 2800 at present exchange) for truck and listed parts complete. I would like to try and sell as a complete package. I may consider selling truck and parts separately dependent on response to package sale. This price is exactly what I paid 18 months ago with a few additional parts I'll throw in. I would like to recoup my money to help pay for my "Alaska" truck project so price is firm.

Shipping: I will work with the buyer to arrange pick-up or shipping as necessary at the buyer's cost.

Availability: Now till it's gone.

Contact: Via this thread or email. I will endevour to review both once a day.

Thanks for looking.

Regards

Jim

a few questions, 4 speed or 5 speed? Looks like no PS? 12volt?

I'd be intersted in the rig only, maybe a few parts but not all of them.

Hi 3_puppies,

Thanks for your interest. I'm pretty sure it's a 4 speed, it does not have power steering and is 24V. I will confirm on the weekend when I'm out at the storage location.

Please let me know what vehicle / parts combination you are interested in. I paid CAD 2500 (approx. USD 2000) for the vehicle one and a half years ago. I believe it is a better deal when combined with the (some) good parts. I might be prepared to split dependent on what combination you are interested in.

I will be taking more pictures throughout the week and will update the thread accordingly.

Regards
Jim

As requested, I checked the vehicle again on the weekend. It does not have power steering, it is a 4 speed and is 24 Volt.

A good start for someone looking for a Diesel 40 project. Getting some interest. Price and parts combination negotiable.

Well let me get second in line. I've got some logisitics to work out, but I'd love to get a hold of the innards to transplant into my frame up. I need to swing the idea by the:princess:. I will let you know, if buyer 1 decides to go another direction. I would take all if it pans out.

Jim, I am going to pass. Thanks for the info tho.

Price & package negotiable

Price now negotiable. I will consider splitting the good spare parts from the truck.

At this point I don't wish to break / part the truck but might need to if there is little further interest in buying the truck whole.

If you are interested in doing a 3B swap into a 40, this would be the way to go as you'll have all the bits, including a wiring harness, EDIC etc.

Thanks for looking.

Regards
Jim

Do you still have your truck? If so please send your phone number to my PM and I will call. I cracked the block on my BJ40 and have a 1B in it. A 3B would be a nice change and I may take the hole thing for the engine. I don't know about US customs regs so will be looking into that. I will want the compression numbers if we get that far.

Steve.
