Parting Out '82 BJ42 Diesel Project Truck + Very good body parts

A note on US customs... This truck is over 25 years old, so the importing is easy. Fill out a few forms (ahead of time!) and you'll waltz on through. I did this last year with an '82, and it took under an hour at the border, most of which was waiting for the customs agent to finish her break. :)

A 3B would be a nice change and I may take the hole thing for the engine. Steve.

Hi In2cruisers,

I believe USCG was interested in the entire truck from which he might extract the engine for his purposes. You are correct that I am presently not personally interested in parting the truck (lack of time = too many projects). I am willing to split the parts + truck package if the right buyer comes along. I may part the truck at a much later date if I cannot sell complete and there is more interest in the parts, at which time I will post a different thread in the Diesel & JDM section and close off this thread.

Hope this clarifies. Stay tuned.

Many thanks.

Regards
Jim

No

You know of any FJ45's forsale

I think that counts as a hijack. No, sorry & my '45 is definitely not for sale.

Back to regular programming.

Compression numbers

I finally got around to borrowing a different diesel compression tester (same as mine but known to be working and providing consistent numbers). The numbers are:

Cyl 1: Cold 420 psi Warm 400 psi
Cyl 2: Cold 380 psi Warm 380 psi
Cyl 3: Cold 400 psi Warm 380 psi
Cyl 4: Cold 380 psi Warm 380 psi

My compression tester showed numbers 20 to 30 psi less than the numbers above. Furthermore, the repeatability of the above numbers is +/- 10 psig or so as I checked a couple of the readings twice. The truck warm test was after running for a five minutes and driving 15 minutes or so around the farm.

A deal on the truck and roll bar / cage is still pending. The other parts are still available.

Jim

P.S. The truck is not roadworthy in its present state. It does travel true but the fan shroud has been moved due to the collision and the clutch fan binds on the inside of the shroud. It probably could be fixed but driving a long distance in its present state would be unwise.

Truck SOLD pending payment & paperwork

Thanks to all of you who showed interest. The truck is now SOLD pending payment & paperwork.

The parts other than the roll bar are still available.

Cheers,
Jim
