The original owner bought this when his family was living in Mexico. They imported it and brought it back to Seattle. I found him (here I think) in March 2020 after he'd sunk a ton of money into maintenance and the lift. We of course used it to get away from people over the ensuing years. We also had 1-2 newborns riding along so that can tell you the level of wheeling abuse it got. Only ever USFS roads in the Lake Tahoe and Western Oregon areas. There was zero rust when I got it. Now there's a very light dusting that I'm inclined to get dry-iced off.
I'm really on the fence about selling this thing. I've spent the last 5 years making it awesome. We recovered the seats and installed the black carpet kit (well an upholstery pro in Sacramento did). I had him lay down a complete layer of Dynamat under the carpet. So the rattles and underside noise are Cadillac quiet! (see the Ridies thread on mud).
I'll get right to it. The higher res photos including my detailed spreadsheet are here. Apparently MUD doesn't allow .heic photos off an iPhone. I'll work on converting these but for now all my records and photos are here:

No, the timing belt hasn't been done since 90k, 2017. Everything electrical or otherwise works and is maintained to a level that my family and I would never be stranded when off the grid alone.
Comes with:
-- never-used third row seats
-- a set of near new Dobinson progressive springs (1" higher than the OMEs in these pictures, OMEs are brand new btw)
-- a full set of Ikon Stage 2 shocks (at least 2 of which need to be rebuilt, but in decent condition otherwise, I removed them to rebuild, found out how expensive that would be and just left the brand new Toyota Tokico shocks on, to a much improved ride around town!)
-- 2 extra roof cross bars (for a total of 4)
-- ARB compressor installed under the hood
-- A cool 4-way hose to air up four tires at the same time.
-- Full-size spare with an unused KO2
-- A pair of Slee spring spacers 1.5" maybe, never used
-- The drawer system as pictured
-- Winch wired controller, probably never used, definitely not by me

Would I drive it across the country?
-- Yes, right now. I'd prefer to go to Alaska though.
Why are you selling?
-- I'm dumb. Also have 4 other cars that need attention. The problem is, this is the one that always "just works". The rest of the fleet, not so much. (all BMWs)
What would you do to it if you kept it?
-- Enjoy the fact that it looks so good after the professional detail (something I swore I'd never let anyone else do).
But what needs work?
-- Tires are end of life. They drone. Maybe a rotation would fix that. Still 5 years old.
-- Shocks and springs are okay. Less "sporty" over the local speed hump than I'd prefer.
-- Panhard bar could probably use new bushings. I like the like-new feel. The first thing I do on these old BMWs is replace all the bushings. I did replace the sway bushings with extended Trail Tailor links which helped body roll a tad.
-- Figure out what springs I like and put air bags in. Kind of annoys me when loaded down it's not exactly the same height, but really only went down an inch on the current setup with bikes, roof box, and a full load of road trip stuff in back+4 people.
-- Change the entire interior to black?
-- Dry ice the superficial rust, consider treating the entire underside. Living for a couple years in Truckee, CA really did in the perfect (really) "southern-owned" underside, despite the fact they say they don't use salt.
-- Buy a bigger garage to hold all these cars dry inside.
-- There's evidence of the slightest fluid seep around the engine/transmission seal. Not even close to a drip.
Has it ever been smoked in, carried animals, or been in an accident?
-- Nope.
What is "Mexico-spec"?
-- As far as I can tell it means there's no navigation(!), no AHC, no rear spoiler, HVAC display is in celsius, and the owner's manual is in Spanish. There were originally 17" wheels too, but I foolishly traded them for these 18s.
