So I am getting about 13-14 L/Km with my little 3b, granted I can't go as fast, but that's not that big of a difference.
guess we're close to getting double the mileage the gasser 80's are gettin...
...but I'm sure you paid more than double the price of a gasser. My 94 cost me $8000.00 with shipping and importing. I think I could buy a lot of gas to make up the price difference.
I do think I'm a diesel guy at heart because my BJ60 is sitting uninsured at the grandparents. Haven't had the heart to officially put it up for sale.

Depends, I'm spending 55$ every 10 days now (64km daily round trip), just in my Echo. Thats adding up fast. It was only a year or so ago I could fill it up for 20 bucks.
yeah yeah, i hate it when this argument comes up!! doh! long term man, long term.... hmm let's see now...
keepin it simple with my ghetto math...
100 bucks to fill to get 700kms on diesel...
100 bucks to fill to get 500kms on gas... (500 km/tank about right on fj's??)
3500 kms on diesel is 500 bucks (and i know diesel is a tad more than regular)
3500 kms on gas is 700 bucks ( diesel saves 200 bucks)
say x 10 for an average of 35,000 km/year so that's 2000 bucks i save...
x at least 5 years and we're even! and i still got turbo diesel!
(and these are conservative, i think the diesels are more thriftier on fuel than my 700kms vs 500kms comparisons...)
man, i see now how a gasser is definitely doable in the short term (plus you can get em rigged up with goodies already!)... hmm, but with gas prices goin up and a viable option to run wvo/svo . . . i'm hopin i still made the right choice! so to get your money's worth, you gotta keep that 80 for a while...or/and grab one cheap from BC!![]()
man, i remember renting an echo and driving it from kaninaskis to vancouver and back and spending only 100 bucks in gas TOTAL for the round trip!![]()
