No really a roll over but the truck landed on its side and now the engine will not start... any idea's of what to check in order to figure out this issue? Towing company disabled the transmission linkage, thats all thats been messed with.

If it isn't in park or neutral it will not start (neutral safety switch).

Try disconnecting the battery and after reconnecting it, us a test light or meter to check the fuses and relays.

Oil went into the valves. Don't try and start it our you will break something from too much pressure. The oil needs to be removed before it can start and don't forget to add oil when you get the other stuff out. Its called hydrolocked.

You need to pull the spark plugs and suck out as much ouil as you can. Then bump start to let the pistons push oil out. I would also find someone who has don this to give you more information on how to do the job right

You get the oil out and it should be good as it was before the roll. Sarah's 80 rolled onto its side and once the oil was removed, has run like a top for 18 months

Reconnect the linkage. Will it turn over? If I lived anywhere near there and could get it for what eBay has it listed for currently it would be mine

Sent from my Nexus S using IH8MUD

Yeah motor turns over and will run but of course will smoke ALOT! I offered to buy it today but the owner wants to see how much he can get in the auction

If he got the oil out he should change the plugs too because they will be fouled and wet. If its not turning over yet, work it a bit to get the oil out before you work it to hard to prevent damage

Sarah's smoked for a few days and then has had no issues since

This is basically what I did when I recently flopped. Got the rig back on its wheels, lightly turned the key to see if it was hydrolocked ( it was of course) So I pulled the plugs, laid out some rags, and then cranked it over..... oil goes everywhere!!!

I turned it over for a while to remove the oil, but that is not all that comes out.....GAS! (note to self, disable fuel pump next time :hillbilly:) I actually had a small fire to put out, lesson learned.

I then replaced the plugs (after cleaning the oil off) and the engine fired immediately. I had to drive 20 miles back to camp and it blew white smoke for the first 15 minutes. Spent the night at camp and then drove the 120 miles home with no issues. No smoke at all and it ran smooth the whole way. I still have the same plugs in there and everything is fine.

I hope this helps anyone who may encounter the same misfortune I did.

It did.

I didn't have the wherewithal to turn mine off for the first minute or two (could've been five seconds, or five minutes, in honesty), after she laid on her side for thirty before righting.

I didn't notice any smoke until this morning, two weeks later, but concerning.

Fifteen minutes and it's ceased.

Anything else to check before potential long term (3-6 months) storage?
