Man, I sure wish I was. At least you're in a relatively safe place where you can work. There is a NAPA not too far from where you're at. They can probably get you any parts you might need. Their # is 217-285 - 2611

If you need tech help, give me a call 48O.2I3.6O75

Impressive. I've not seen rust used as a lube before, but I'm always open to learning something new.

The good part is, it looks like you found the problem!

Good luck.

Cruiserdrew always looking on the bright side!

The sad part is that the passenger side was the one with a idiot installed seal...

Just wanted to point out all the damage to the seal was existing, not done on removal. Same rust lube on that side

Wish I was closer to assist you getting back on the road. Good luck with the repair.

Question...what were the symptoms causing you to pull over in the first place?

Stay safe out there....

Wow that's one seal that was forced in place. How does the axle look where the seal rides?

Axle looked fine where the seal rode, but there was maybe a tablespoon of grease in the entire wheel bearing encasement. And that grease had the consistancy of sand.

As I was tooling along at 70, felt and heard what can be compared to running over the snooze strips in the highway for about 1/2 second. Got more and more common at lower speeds, while I limped to Walmart.

So major thanks go out to Tornado Alley Cruiser for help figuring out what could be wrong, and double double best friend thanks to Rob for grabbing the trailer and truck and rescuing my a$$.

We made it back home about 7 am after a long night.

Ick. I repacked wheelbearings in a parkinglot in la on a similar roadtrip. Glad u made it home.
