A couple of days ago, the A/C seems to be making some noise regardless if the clutch is on or off. Sounds like a belt or bearing noise from the pulley area (confirmed with a stethoscope) I was wondering if there is a bearing to replace there or should I replace the whole clutch assembly? The clutch works fine and does engage/disengage as needed. I also noticed some signs of grease leaking from around the pulley.
Cheers,

GREAT!! Thanks man!.. I appreciate it..

A couple questions though:
- It seems that it be done without removing the compressor from the engine. Correct?
- Any part number for this bearing?
- It doesn't look like you needed a pulley puller (or SST in Toyo language). Please confirm.

Thanks again. Great help and video..

Thanks!

Depending on the placement of the compressor on the engine, you may have to unbolt it from the mount, in order to access the front of it. The hoses will allow some limited movement, but I don't think you'll need to remove it.

A couple part #'s for the bearing: Santech #MT2027, Omega #23-30114. DImensions are 30mm ID x 52mm OD x 22mm wide.

Shouldn't need a puller, some snap ring pliers and a small impact to remove the front bolt. The hub can be stubborn, but you should be able to work it off.

Removed the clutch assembly today and found that the bearing is toast. In addition, the clutch plates seem so worn out (even though the A/C was working O.K.'ish'). I guess I will need to buy a whole clutch assembly.
Checked the EPC and found this part number: 88410-35120
It is a 1990 HDJ81. I was just double checking if this P/N includes the pressure plate AND the rotor w/bearing.
Also, any idea where to find it in Canada? I could always buy it from the US dealers online but hate to wait for the shipment to show up here. It is bloody hot these days..need AC now!!

Cheers,

I went to a scrapper and found the identical compressor with identical pulley and clutch, etc. on a Toyota Cressida...... don't remember what year. You should be able to find the front part of the clutch on any 10PA15C compressor (they are super common on lots of Japanese cars). It's only the pulley which is specific.

thanks "themorb"
It is my understanding that the clutch mechanism is somewhat similar to a regular car clutch, pressure plate, friction..etc. What I noticed on mine is that the two parts: the pulley (aka rotor) and the pressure plate (the part with the three small rivets on the front) are almost making metal-to-metal contact. Should there be some friction material there? I have not seen a new one to be able to tell.
