Just got my roof line-xed before my CO trip next week. So glad I did it, the roof rack and rub rail nutserts looked pretty bad. Now it's time to get a roof rack! I did the entire roof, from windshield to rear air foil. There was a bit of prep, stripping the rub-rail rubber gaskets, pulling the headliner, sunroof pan, removal of the stock insulation, install of the damplifier, JB Weld in the nutserts, and everything back in. I really hope I don't ever have to pull that headliner again! Enjoy the pics!

nice! how's it look from afar?

Hmmmm, well with a 4" lift and 35's, you really can't see much of the top. The part that you can see, looks great! Black on top of a emerald green truck works well, especially with all of the other black accessories (rear bumper, FJ steelies.)

Man thats crazy!!

Need to see where the paint meets the liner!

Cost?

I'll post some more when it's light out. They made some very neat, clean cuts.

Cost was $400 b/f tax, and that was also w/ the new Line-x sealer.

Interested to hear how that color is going to handle direct summer rays and heat soak.

With the sealer, Line-x guarantees the color and as for the heat soak, it can't be much different from the original emerald roof. Seat of the pants putting hand on the headliner in the cargo area (closest to roof metal) it *seems* cooler than the original. But that could also have something to do with the foil-covered damplifier underneath. I also wonder if the Line-x acts as some type of insulator. I'd much rather touch black Line-x vs white painted sheet metal, but that has more to do with the ability of the material to transfer heat.

Just curious, since you went through the trouble to remove the headliner why didn't you have the holes in the roof welded up and then repaint the roof? looks good nice job. Would it have been more money due to the extra prep work to just do the ribbed and rack base areas as others have done vs the entire roof?

I'm diggin it.

Well, welding up the holes can cause the problem of warping since the roof sheet is so thin.) Since I did the Line-x, it wasn't really necessary to get it overly smooth. The reason for the Line-x is to prep the truck for a roof rack (dripping nasty stuff on to the roof,) and with the height if the truck, it gets pretty scraped up on the trail by low-lying branches. I just wanted the whole thing covered and done, and the price wasn't bad!

What are you planning on loading on your rack that will drip such nastiness?!? lol. Zombies dont make that much a mess and not horribly toxic :flipoff2:

BTW: looks great ;)

Interesting.

So how does the extra thickness affect the sunroof? Any sealing/leaking/noise issues?

I had them cut it 1/16" around the sunroof, so there is no interference.

Drove it around today, and with the damplifier and the Line-x, it is MUCH quieter in the truck!

Nice top hat ;p
