Thanks go to Box Rocket and others who have provided great ideas for cheap sliders. I decided to purchase a weld together 68" DOM kit from Adam at 4xinnovations.com. The price is extremely reasonable. A friend and I ordered two sets and my cost to the door was $200.:D

Here's a pic of the kit from Adam's website:

I built an exhaust skid plate from 3/8" for the passenger side. Although replicating the angles and building around the exhaust were somewhat of a PITA, overall if you have caveman welding skills and tools such as myself, the project comes in around :banana:1/2.

Here in Aspen there are two types of people:
1. Extremely rich people
2. People who work for extremely rich people

My friends and I fall into the latter category.;) A fellow 80 series owner and newbie here at Mud was having about 1.257 metric linear s***-ton feet of aluminum powdercoated for his rich employer's new entertainment tent...so we threw the sliders in as well (FREEBIE)!

Here they are after being powdercoated...

The other thing I accomplished yesterday, with a little help from the :princess:...weighing in at 8lb.3oz...

Proud papa holding a little girl...(side note: WTF a girl?!? I'm terrified!)

Lastly, an exhausted :princess: and a really excited little boy... Gen3.webp

Now I'm gonna NEED a Starcraft 10rt in time for Cruise Moab 2008...:D

Next project I'm working on is a weld together tube bumper that can house my Warn/Belleview 8000 (grandfather of the 8274) with Adam from 4xinnovations.com. he's doing the tube work and I'm making the mount (hopefully)...;)

I've gotta pre-occupy the 2yr old while :princess: and :princess: jr. catch up on some much needed rest.:)

I love the free powdercoating.

Always helps to think outside the box and use all available resources. 80's are expensive enough on there own, every little bit of money saved can be an asset. Well done on the sliders and the kids.

side note: WTF a girl?!? I'm terrified!

Terrified? Man, you're screwed!

Actually, my two girls were first and so far they have been super easy. Now my two boys that are 3 . . . they sure seem like trouble.

Really, Congrats!

So is that the RS02-H-K?

RS02-D-K (D is for DOM). I wasn't going to spring for the DOM, but Adam had a set laying around that he wanted to get rid of. So I got them for about the same price as the HREW.

sweet sliders.

and congratulations on the little one. Good thing you have an 80 cause now you can take her wheelin' in a year or two.

now thats a real accomplishment - beautiful little girl, congradulations!

oh, and nice sliders...

Did you have to notch the pinch welds on the body in order for these to fit? I understand with these universal kits that is sometimes a necessity. Nice job.

I didn't. I thought about doing it anyways in order to gain a little more clearance, but I had a few other things consuming my time...;)

Also the DOM doesn't flex like HREW, so hopefully I will be ok on rock impacts. I did test the sliders by lifting the Cruiser via a jack under the sliders. I know that impact is significantly different, but I'lll get a chance to test that out as well...
