I asked some time ago regarding a PTO for an 80 with zero luck. I had tried a few vendors that dealt with importing non-US spec models and received no answer from them either. If you happen to find something please pass it along. Good luck on your quest.

this is not the best place to ask. US market 80s did not come with a PTO option, that I know of.
De'sole'!

Well, you mean you want the PTO or the complete winch??? Cos i happen to know where to find some! :D I know at least a guy who has a PTO for the 80 for sale, and one other guy with a not working 80 PTO winch! :D And i could be ready to part out with my 80 series winch for an hydraulic one with a rear PTO (150 dols from SOR) I would then fit an hydrau pump on teh PTO or rear PTO for teh winch. Best pic i could find so far http://toyotabj71.free.fr/HDJ 80 SUITE/HDJ 80 19.JPG with Denis's link :D

Whai i don't like is that i gonna have to make adapters :crybaby: and also cut the moustache thing under the radiator :crybaby: to fit it back closer to the chassis and a litle higher.

The 80 series transfer cases used in the North American market do not have a PTO access cover, the case is solid.

Yep, I got one on my 80. The PTO is totally different from the splitcase transfer cases. They work great. They have some type of brake holding the load even if you step on the clutch.

You need a transfer case with the open port and cover on the side.

Thanks a lot redstang.

I have a split case.
I'm adapting the 80's winch on a 60, i'm on a lead for a cheap split case.

That's the same idea I had in mind, run a hyd. pump off the PTO to a Hyd. winch. Dan confirmed what I had assumed for US market 80's that we can't install a PTO. I'm not that interested in replacing my transfer case with a non-US unit at this time. There are other things I need to accomplish first. However, it is good news to know someone has similar ideas and a source of parts. Cheers

Hi Ibn ben crusn :D

May be you don't need to fit another Tcase? That seems rather weird that they would use different tcases between the petrol and diesel ones! Not verry cost effective! :D And may be you have a rear PTO option, as i would think the main shaft bearing has an access plate :D

the plate #36122, that's the rear PTO on the split cases, you should be able to adapt a 60's rear PTO on that! :D

But i'd realy doubt that they used different T cases and can't fit a PTO on teh FZJ!

Dan??

This sounds like something I'd need your input on as I'm not the LC parts god. Is this something that could be put together?

Do you really think the 80 series was designed and engineered to be cost effective ?
Toyota affords to build different body parts according to different seat configurations, options and whatnot. The 1996 24V HDJ80 I was looking at didn't have the PTO opening either.

Hi everybody!

d3ni5, what's your opinion on the rear PTO? Any chance that it might even with a bit of machining, or that's a big no-no due to to spline count or arbor diameter? Btw, where was that HDJ80 from???

Bye.

Max.

If you can find a flange that works, why not. Routing the driveline to the front winch might be "interesting" tho. :D The super-old rear PTO units will definately have a different spline count than what you have if that's what you're asking.
The HDJ80 was from France.

Well, it's not for me! It's just to help ibn ben crusn :D I think that's teh best way to run an hydraulic pump on a cruiser :D No rerouting of the shaft! :D I gonna buy one for teh 61 one of thoses days, to use as a compressor drive :D I've found already an official air france oxygen bottle (size of a scuba diving bottle) to use as a container :D

Bye.

Max.
